Job Description:Job Description Salary: $18-$22 We are seeking an Indigenous Youth Career Coach to assist with the successful and smooth transition of Indigenous youth entering a CAREERS internship through one-on-one coaching and worksite readiness. This a temporary, full-time position supported by the Canada Summer Jobs Program, and applicants must be: available 40 hours per week from May to August 2024between 18 and 30 years of agelegally entitled to work in Canada and have a valid social insurance number The Indigenous Youth Career Coach primary responsibilities will include: Assist Indigenous youth in resume writing, preparation for interviews, and workplace readiness. Follow-up with Indigenous youth and their employers for a smooth transition to work assignments and retention.Engage with Indigenous communities and their Summer Student programs to provide career exploration and awareness to their youthBe active in community support networks with organizations like Friendship Centers and regional social centers.Other projects and duties as assigned. As the Indigenous Youth Career Coach, you will have the following skills and abilities: Experience or training in education, career counseling or development, Indigenous studies, social work, or similar area.Knowledge of Indigenous culture and a commitment to Truth & Reconciliation The ability to build relationships with youth and employers.The ability to work independently within a team environment.Experience working with Indigenous youth, life skills coaching, and/or career counseling is preferred.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office suite including, Outlook, Excel, and Word, as well as databases and other digital technologies.As travel within the region will be expected, a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required.The successful candidate must demonstrate an incident-free Criminal Record Check and Child Welfare Check. Preference may be given to candidates that identify as First Nations, Métis, or Inuit.
