Tito has been in Foster for several months with a busy household of adults. He loves all people that come into the house and is friendly with everyone. He is use to people coming and going in and out of the home and enjoys meeting everyone.
He walks well on his leash and is housetrained and crate trained. He is friendly with strangers on walks and shows interest in dogs he sees by getting excited and pulling towards them. He has not been allowed to meet other dogs on walks yet given he is easily spooked by sudden quick movements. He would likely do well with a calm dog but an excitable ill behaved dog may be too much for him. He does not have any prey drive towards small creatures he sees while out walking.
He is extremely food motivated which is assisting in his obedience training. He is still learning manners so can sometimes be a bit jumpy and mouthy when he gets excited. He sometimes gets silly with the zoomies when he has built up energy.
Tito is getting more used to the world around him and does get spooked by quick sudden movements and loud unexpected noises therefore young children would be too stressful for him. Older teenagers and adults provide a calmer environment for him.
Tito needs a a strong experienced and confident handler who will provide him with a very structured environment which he seems to thrive on. There needs to be rules set (no couches or beds) and his owner needs to follow through with them to show Tito he can trust his owner to be in control.
He had shown no resource guarding with any of his toys but did have one incident of resource guarding with a very high value bone he was given that was taken which resulted in him nipping. Any high value treats are only provided to him while he is in his crate which has been successful in managing the issue. Any adopter needs to be aware that guarding extremely high value treats exists and must be prepared to manage it.
Tito would greatly benefit from continued training therefore an adopted who is committed to ensuring he continues with further training is preferred.
