Looking for Zoe!!!
Description
UPDATE: to an earlier post
When I decided to rehome Zoe, my 10 year old African Grey, I didn’t do so hastily. I took my time in order to find the perfect home for her. I had many people inquire who didn’t meet the standards I had for her. You see- it’s not that I didn’t love my girl anymore- it’s that I believed someone else could give her the level of love and attention I know she deserved. I was in no rush to find her a new home. Then came Roxanne, a seemingly perfect fit for Zoe. She told me all about her experience with birds and how much time and dedication she gives to each and every one of her birds. She assured me that she would take wonderful care of Zoe and sent me pictures of her other birds and the home she would provide. She assured me that she was not a breeder and her experience came from a love for birds that her and her mom shared. I corresponded with her for quite some time before deciding this was a great fit for Zoe. Roxanne and her “husband” Olivier came over to pick up Zoe and her cage. They left and I breathed a sigh of relief knowing that I had found good people to care for her.
I had correspondence with Roxanne for about a week after Zoe left. She had me convinced that things were going well and Zoe was adjusting perfectly. Until Christmas when she “ghosted me”. I sent multiple texts and received no response. As time dragged on without corresponding I began to worry that something might be wrong. Even after my pleas for a reply, still nothing. Everyday I wondered about Zoe. I kept searching and searching. Today I have come to realize that the individuals who I trusted with my Zoe lied to me. Sold me a story that fit my desires and turned around to make a $2000 profit on her. I am devastated. Not about the money, I don’t care about that. I am devastated that I do not know who has my girl. The last thing Roxanne told me was that Zoe was saying “it’s okay, it’s okay”, these are the words I would say when she needed reassurance.
Today Roxanne replied to my texts. Acted as though she couldn’t respond earlier because she is pregnant and pretended that Zoe is still happily in her care. Refused a video call. Refused to let me speak with Olivier and played innocent about the whole thing. She has since stopped responding again. Olivier and Roxanne operate Perroquet Expert. They are the people who duped me. Please be careful when rehoming your pets, I have learnt my lesson too late.
So to my girl Zoe, I am sorry. I’m sorry I let you down. I wonder about you everyday and I hope you are safe. If I could go back in time I would hold on to you forever. I placed my trust in immoral human beings and now you are paying the price. This is not what I wanted for you, and I pray that you are safe and happy. I love you Zoe.
If anyone knows where Zoe might be, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I just want to know she’s okay.
