Elderly Caregiver

About the role:
General caregiving and assistance required for 75 year old man with mid-stage dementia. He is physically healthy with no impairments or issues, is friendly and still possesses a great sense of humour, but does become confused and forgetful throughout the day. As such, the role would focus on companionship and hygiene.
The position would be at day shifts, part-time with progression to full-time as needs increase. Experience working as a caregiver or in a support role required, preference for those with elderly or dementia experience.
Duties may include:
• Personal Care
• Dementia Care
• Companionship
• Meal Preparation
• Light housekeeping
• Medication Reminders
• Chaperoning to medical appointments
• Physical activities such as going on walks
Requirements:
• Previous experience providing care or assistance to vulnerable persons
• Friendly and caring disposition
• Ability to treat and care for my father and his property with dignity and respect
• Ability to bend, twist, stoop, kneel and reach
• Ability to communicate with my father and the family
• Adaptability to changing environments (i.e. varying levels capacity of dementia patients)
• Clean Criminal Background Check
Preferred but not required skills:
• Post secondary education (certificate, training, or degree) in caregiving, nursing, etc.
• First aid
• Drivers license and vehicle with valid insurance
• Ability to speak French
• Interest in hockey
Compensation:
Pay will be competitive and based on level of experience. For the right, possibility of rent subsidies/accommodation.
Due to Covid-19 concerns, interviews and meet and greets will be conducted with via zoom/Skype/video call. Additionally, the successful candidate will need to be aware of Covid-19 best practices related to care for vulnerable people, such as the elderly.
