Rehoming needed for Canadian Inuit Dog
Description
Barron is 3 1/2 years old, he was neutered in July and is up to date on all his shots. He had a clean bill of health from the vet, who also referred to him as a "fine specimen".
He has had some issues since he was a puppy, as he is very headstrong and was described by a behavioural assessment as being just that 1% of dogs who are born to lead. That being said, he is extremely smart and can be very sweet and loving when he trusts you. Unfortunately, as he is not really suitable for a family with young children, we have had to come to the decision to rehome him, as we are having a baby at the beginning of February. We have been working with him and will continue to do so, to facilitate a smooth transition for his new owner.
He would do well with someone who does not have children, who is not easily intimidated, who is patient and is able to give him the space, exercise and consistency that he needs. He has shown himself to do well with other dogs and would also enjoy being a working dog. Being a snow dog, he loves the outdoors, being active, colder weather and snow and would love a home with a fenced-in area he can run around. He does need a lot of exercise and would be a great companion for someone who has an active lifestyle.
Barron has had a few incidents with myself and my husband. He can be a very good boy, but it would be unethical to hide this fact about him from a prospective owner. He has never attacked a stranger or other dogs. He can be challenging and keep you on your toes, but a person with experience who is aware of his issues and stays calm should be able to manage him and see the positive sides that we do. We love him very much and think that with the right person and environment Barron and a new owner could have a very good life together.
We have had a professional assessment done and I would be happy to share the information from his assessment and answer any questions about him.
