“Cracking the Dementia Code™” is a fun and interactive learning session focusing on the behaviours associated with dementia presented by Karen Tyrell, CDP, CPCA, CDCP – Dementia Consultant & Educator for over 25 years.
This live 2 hour workshop is for professional caregivers and includes a hand out and personalized certificate.
Workshop Objectives:
At the end of the workshop, participants are expected to:
- understand and explain the philosophy of person centered care and give examples.
- provide an overview of dementia, Alzheimer’s disease and delirium.
- deliver creative concepts and tools for managing dementia related behaviours including gathering the “Ph.A.C.T.S.™”
- identify the top therapeutic communication techniques in dementia care.
This live online workshop is designed too enhances a professional caregiver's toolkit and increase their confidence in providing dementia care for their clients/residents. In addition, the basic skills you will learn from this course will also allow you to have an improved interaction with and provide better support for families of clients living with symptoms of dementia.
Karen believes that there is always a reason behind the dementia behaviour. Therefore, as frontline professional caregivers or volunteers, it is important to learn the skills to understand the reasons behind these behaviours. This can make a positive impact on the lives of your clients and your sense of purpose, fulfillment and satisfaction as a professional caregiver.
