All sold! French x Satin Angora Cross Rabbit Left!
Description
All sold. A few Satins might be Satins in a few weeks.
Lovely French x Satin Angora rabbit "yarn seeds" ready to join a 4-H or fiber-spinning home or homestead. They are a cross as we are working to add size and density to our Satin line by introducing French blood from a wonderful REW buck (this is a one-time cross on a long-term Satin project and it is being carefully managed). Dam is a stunning Satin lynx doe with super soft wool and great mothering skills, and sire is a Ruby-Eyed-White French with an amazing dense coat (both are pedigreed and from good lines). There are four does (darker ones are chestnut and lighter ones are wide-band chestnut) and two bucks (lilac tort and wide-band chestnut). The kits (baby bunnies) will present as French, but carry the Satin gene, so if crossed to another Satin they may produced satinized (shinny) coats (sold without pedigree as they are crosses, but I can provide genotype information). As they grow older, the wool will lighten and continue to develop lovely bands of color. The resulting spun yarn has a wonderfully warm and soft feel with a stunning halo, which will also dye well. Perfect for adding that glamorously soft, wow factor to your knitting or crocheting projects! And did you know that rabbit manure is the perfect cold manure for the garden? It can be added directly without the need to compost it, and it won't burn the plants!
*Angora rabbits require grooming to prevent mats, but French and Satin Angoras are not as high-maintenance as the English breed. They will need brushing (and ideally blowing of the coat with a cold-air blower) about once a week. Other than that, they are hardy, gentle, and wonderful dual-purpose additions to any fiber-loving home or homestead.
We are located close to Truro, in Colchester County, Nova Scotia. Will work with transport.
