2008 BMW M3
Description
For sale:
2008 BMW E92 M3
This is the only NA V8 BMW has ever made and will ever make for the M3 platform. 420hp @ 8300rpm is something to hear! In all honesty I’d put some Super Sprint straight pipes on this car if I could afford it! I am a BMW enthusiast, so under my ownership it has been in good maintenance and driving hands. The car is located in Vancouver west side near UBC campus, and I will only entertain test drives if you know how to drive a manual. This is not a learners car by any stretch, so please don’t waste my time if your looking for a car for mommy, this isn’t the one. I have owned this car for 2 years now to enjoy the high revving V8, and am hoping to pass this car off to someone who also enjoys BMWs and has a budget to be able to throw some mods at it, and correct the service issues I’m unable to do at this time due to financial constraints.
See below for the current status of the car:

The bad:
- Only One car key available. You can order another key from BMW for about $300 but they make you jump a bunch of verification hurdles to prove ownership. Only way is to call the dealer here unfortunately.
- Factory 18 inch rims were painted black. Original gold color underneath. Not my doing. There is some curb rash painted over on one rim but the rest are fine and it drives straight.
- There’s slight body damage scratch to the driver side rear quarter panel behind the door. It’s there, you see it when you look at it, but it’s cosmetic more than anything and there are no rattles from it. PDR won’t fix it, you need a new quarter panel.
- The front end shows rock chips. There’s no loose bumper but it would need a repaint to fix the scratches.
- There are some weathering scratches on the car as well. It has been driven but nothing major.
- The rear bumper is scratched up from loading and unloading.
- There is mark on the bumper lid where a spoiler lip used to go but was damaged by the last owner and subsequently taken off. The mark shows where it used to be.
- Park Distance Control (PDC) is on this car for the reverse, but it has not worked since the 3rd owner. My OBD is showing there needs to be a module replaced for it to work correctly.
- First generation iDrive does work but the physical aux/usb connection is faulty. Thankfully Radio and CD do work.
- DVD disc for navigation works but it’s dvd based so you’ll have to get the updated disc if you want after 2012 onward maps…
- The seat belt extenders do not work correctly. Passenger side has been disabled, but driver side still sticks in and out. Can be disabled, I just haven’t figured out how.
- Original floor mats are clean but the driver side is ripped a bit.
- There is a baby seat indentation mark on the rear passenger rear side seat. It’s not bad, but the impression is there in the cushion.
- Throttle actuators have never been replaced. I have had no issue but it’s a common thing with E92… so this needs to be budgeted for as a just in case.
- I was told engine/transmission mounts were done at about 100k km.I don’t see a problem on visual inspection but I have no way to verify this either.
The ugly:
- The clutch needs a overhaul. Probably got about 10k left. You can still drive it but the friction point is touchy and the shifts are getting heavy. Not for a beginner manual driver!
- The steering bushings and rear subframe bushings need replacing. The steering rack is solid but they have never been serviced and under heavy braking there is some vibration starting to show. You may want to consider replacing the ball joints on the tie rods as well if you do bushings…
I’m asking $39,900 based on all of the above but I’m open to offers too so long as they start at $30k+
If you’ve read this far and have any questions please contact me at . Text or call is fine during normal hours please. The car is located in Vancouver west side (not west Vancouver over the bridge!)
… and yea I do still have the rear seat headrests.
