Praying mantis for sale - NOT PEST CONTROL
Description
Praying mantis nymphs for sale. Both of the legal species, Chinese mantis (Tenodera sinensis) and European mantis (Mantis religiosa) are available, although European mantis are not recommended for first time keepers. All nymphs will come with a free caresheet on how to accurately take care of them. Note that these are to be kept as PETS, NOT PEST CONTROL as they are invasive to North America due to misguided gardeners adding them to their fields in the 1800's, only to find that THEY ARE INDISCRIMINATE HUNTERS WHOSE PRIMARY DIET IS POLLINATORS!
The Chinese mantis (Tenodera sinensis) is native to Asia, and can either be green or brown in their youth but tend to turn brown with a characteristic green stripe down their elytra in adulthood as they mimic the summer grass. They can have colorful underbellies that range from brown, green, or even pink/purple! Females grow to be 3-4 inches in captivity as adults while males are smaller at 2-3 inches.
The European mantis (Mantis religiosa) is native to Europe, Asia, and northern Africa. They can be green, yellow or brown with their raptorials typically a bright yellow. Religiosa are smaller than Tenodera with the females and males ranging around 2-3 inches in adulthood. It is VERY important not to release this species back into the wild as our climate is perfect for them to get established (in fact, they already are). European mantis are not recommended for those with no prior invertebrate experience as their care is still being smoothed out by the mantis keeping community.
Prices for both species are $5 for i1-i3, $10 for i4-i6, and $15 for any instars beyond. If purchasing younger than i4, it is HIGHLY recommended to purchase at least three nymphs to ensure one survives to adulthood. Please message for any other inquiries.
