(REDUCED) 2003 Yamaha Rx1 with 156” track, in good condition
Description
This is a very solid 4 stroke snowmobile with a powerful 1000cc motor. It has been very well taken care of, not played with or abused. Despite the large motor it does very well on fuel. It has around 7830 kms on it, not a lot for these 4 stroke motors, which I always hear said that you can expect 20000+ from them. I have always done regular oil changes, including changing the oil filter each time. Always used semi synthetic Yamilube , or Kimpex fully synthetic 0W-40, which is supposed to be even better. Oil changes are not that difficult on this sled either, much easier than on the Phazer I own. I have just recently done an oil and filter change on it. New battery in 2023. I bought it in 2014, with around 4000 kms on it. Soon after getting it I put a new longer 156” track on it and extended the rails some to do this. I also added a big cooling radiator at the back of the tunnel for extra cooling which works very well. It has home made scratchers on it that I made and they do a good job as well. This thing is built very strong, and tons of power for pulling or whatever you want to do. It’s not a tank to drive though like some of the big sleds with super wide tracks. I used it a fair bit for pulling in firewood, or short trips with the family just puttering around. The first few years I had it I took it on some longer trips up an unplowed road a couple hundred kms where we go riding in the spring. The last few years its use has been pretty minimal. Most everything works as it should, although I don’t think the hand warmers work, but the thumb warmer works good. It has reverse but somethings not quite right with it. I haven’t really used the reverse for years, ever since I had to replace the bearings on the drive shaft about 8 years ago and had the gear box apart, and apparently didn’t get things adjusted quite right when they were put back together. It does go into reverse but if it doesn’t move backwards easily then something starts to slip so I just never used it in fear that it might damage something. I believe it must just be an issue of the linkage not being adjusted right so it doesn’t fully engage. It was the first sled I owned with reverse so it wasn’t a big deal for me when it quit working, I didn’t think it was worth taking somewhere to have fixed and I couldn’t seem to get it right myself. I added the rack on the back, and put a turn on the exhaust pipe and shielding so that I could put stuff back there. The exhaust pipe and muffler had been upgraded with much lighter aftermarket parts before I bought the sled. It originally had dual pipes out the back, so I utilized the empty holes where the pipes used to come out and made sealed storage compartments there out of plastic pipes and screw on caps. Some of the plastics at the front are held with zip ties but nothing is broken, it’s all in nice shape. Comes with fitted travel cover too. Just bought another snowmobile so I need to let this one go. Any questions just send me a message. There’s enough snow here to try it out. Asking $3200 obo
