Job Title: QA/QC
Wages: $29-$32 an hour
Job Location: Whitehorse, YT
Reporting to Skookum Site Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A
Indirect Supervisory Responsibilities: Entry Level
Skookum Asphalt is looking for highly motivated individual to join the team as Quality Control Technician in Whitehorse, BC
Quality Control Experience is preferred, but not necessary. Willing to train.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Quality Control:
• Assist in the application of quality control program and procedure.
• Write Quality Control Testing Reports and conduct lab correlation with Quality Assurance Testing Agency.
• Understands project specifications and requirements. Will report promptly substandard results so corrective actions are applied in the best of times as required.
• Strong knowledge of test procedures and specifications for aggregate properties and ready mix products.
• Display good communication and liaison with colleagues, Supervisor and Project Manager regarding project quality management topics and issues.
• Performs on the job quality control testing on aggregates and concrete mixes under supervision of the Quality Control lead.
• Maintains high standard of workmanship and professionalism.
• Keeps high housekeeping standards with the lab and testing equipment.
Health & Safety, Environmental regulations, policies, procedures
• Understand and abide by the OH&S Regulations, Safety Policy, other internal policies, and safety directives that may be implemented on specific sites from those that the Company is contracted with to perform the work (i.e. owners, general contractors).
• Participate in tailgate safety meetings & hazard assessments as required by OH&S regulations and company policy.
• Participate in the review of project sites daily for changing conditions that may negatively affect safety of employees or subcontractors working directly for the Company.
• Participate in completing Job Site Hazard Assessments as required by OH&S regulations and company policy.
• Inform advise immediate supervisor of items of concern and aide in adjusting work schedule or methods of construction to always ensure safety of workers.
Working conditions:
• Periodically lift items weighing close to 50 lbs.
• May be required to work long hours and 7 days a week depending on workload and specific assignments.
• Labour work required in assisting with the crews when an extra hand is needed.
• May be required to do a lot of walking and standing in a noisy environment.
• May be working in inclement weather: rain, snow, heat, cold, and wind.
Employment Requirements:
• 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in QA/QC the construction industry preferred.
• Willing to train the right individual who has less experience.
• ACI certification is an asset.
• Detailed oriented and focus on accuracy of reporting.
• Good communication skills both verbal and written.
• Valid class 5 driver’s license.
• Computer skills: Excel, Word, Project and engineering programs.
