Savannah cats are a hybrid cat species with a super affectionate loyal personality with the perfect traits and mannerisms that originate from a African serval (A wild African cat)
❓Frequently asked questions❓
What does (Filial) F2/F8 mean?
Savannah cats are categorized into different groups like F1, F2, F3, and so on. An F1 Savannah has a serval parent, and each generation after follows a similar pattern. The number shows how many generations they are from a wild serval. F1 and F2 cats look more wild because they have more serval genes. As the generations go on, Savannah cats become more like regular pets while keeping some unique traits. Once they reach the F4 generation, they're considered purebred Savannah cats, and there's little difference between F4 and F9 Savannahs.
What's Savannah cats personality like?
Savannah cats are often noted for their dog-like personality, a characteristic influenced by both genetics and early socialization. These cats tend to form strong bonds with their owners, displaying affection and seeking companionship similar to the loyalty seen in dogs. Their highly active and playful nature, engaging in interactive games and even participating in activities like fetching, contributes to the perception of a dog-like demeanor. Proper socialization during their early developmental stages also plays a role, influencing their comfort around people and encouraging social behaviors. Additionally, the trainability of Savannah cats, allowing them to learn tricks, walk on a leash, and respond to commands.
Why are Savannah cats so expensive?
Savannah cats are expensive due to their unique mix of domestic cats and servals, making them rare and attractive. The challenges in breeding a hybrid species contribute to their cost. Additionally, caring for them is demanding, and running a cattery adds expenses like vet bills, food, and cleaning supplies. The price fluctuates based on demand and availability.
