Black Cat With One White Whisker on Left Cheek Found
Description
February 24, 2023- Teddy not for rehoming or adoption.
July 12, 2022- Teddy lays down against apartment door(not patio door) perhaps as behaviour from previous home; Other behaviour indicates He was raised by humans indoors and indoor pet for entire life. Still no white whisker regrowth yet all other health good.
June 22- White whisker still not re-growing; health normal. Playful and zoomy occasionally climbing curtain and looking at me meowing for attention(lol) which I then unstick him from curtain & he continues to romp about. Likes to snuggle on sofa and bed next to head.
May 14- Teddy's 4th birthday today (approx. 4 years old) 6 months since he chose my patio & 4 months indoors. VIDEO 1- Winnie & Teddy being brushed this morning 6:47 long: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHNWrsDjV58&list=PL2XgVSuFlTffmnKIfSjEZd9Aw6Qz-4bCH&index=89 VIDEO 2- Teddy talks 1:06 long: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2d4Dt1Y8PpI&list=PL2XgVSuFlTffmnKIfSjEZd9Aw6Qz-4bCH&index=90 Elusive white whisker still not re-growing.
May 10- Have good conversations with him when cam not rolling; will keep trying to get his distinct meows on cam. Teddy & The Magic Human Litter Box; 1:23 minute youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIlS7bZmPgQ&list=PL2XgVSuFlTffmnKIfSjEZd9Aw6Qz-4bCH&index=88
May 2- White Whisker yet to start growing back; Always does the great stuff including vocals when camera not on him so I just take photos and make a video as in this one: 1 minute 30 sec. long, Teddy & Friends In April https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtlRhW8A1k8&list=PL2XgVSuFlTffmnKIfSjEZd9Aw6Qz-4bCH&index=87
April 7- Posted 3 new photos that show coat colour variation depending on lighting. Still no progress on white whisker regrowth. He likes to engage other cats in good cat play except Luke whom only plays with Tuffy. The female cats will engage him especially Tuffy the 1 year old. He tried to mate with Winnie 8 year old female both neuter/spay just holds her then lets go; Cat romance is in the air, lol; not funny for kitten season outdoors.
March 29- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0eX_5L4O_U&list=PL2XgVSuFlTffmnKIfSjEZd9Aw6Qz-4bCH&index=84 YouTube link to 2:40 video of photos, Teddy & Friends March 2020. Thumbnail has his white whisker which has not begun to grow back yet; still 100% Teddy with his unique crooked tail tip not visible and unique Tedder meows, snuggles sitting on shoulders, hunting movement under the blankets, helping making the bed and sleeping in bed : )
March 22- Photo's taken today without his white whisker with better lighting; he had a bad fur day yesterday lol. No just kidding it was lighting and bad picture.
March 21- 2 Photo's of him without his white whisker posted in pictures. Weight is 12 lbs gaining 2 lbs from when first brought inside. Having tapeworm cost him some weight as well as being outdoors in 2021. Fur has become thinner, longer & healthier inside due to daily brushes and combing which he expects in morning and takes any time of day. His fur was denser and shorter when he was outside in December in cold and for a few weeks inside. Human hair Comb removes excess fur better than brush & brush is good for loosening fur and massaging skin. Will post photo collage at end of March
March 16- Monitoring for any further relapse of tapeworm and so far showing no signs of parasites. Showing more of his personality with other cats in engaging them in play and with humans as well as finding His sitting, sleeping and bird watching spots. White whisker has not begun to grow back.
March 1- Teddy's white whisker fell out; it will grow back. All cats becoming more accepting of him inside.
Feb. 21- Tends to make loud screeching mreowow noise if another cat namely Luke jumps on him or when Tuffy plays with him. The noise he makes sounds worse than actual interaction warrants so it is likely an autonomic response. He is stimulated by other cats playing and running and sometimes gives chase to them but is not aggressive. Teddy wants to play and engage the other cats but they are still hesitant except for Tuffy; Except for Luke whom tends to express his alpha dominance on all cats in house but not violent attacks on cats except for Tuffy whom He has bonded with as playmate, cuddle and groom. All normal behaviours for cats. Tough being new cat on the block.
Feb. 10- Tapeworm Teddy all clear this morning no proglottid’s( each segment in the strobila of a tapeworm, containing a complete mature reproductive system) crawling from his butt or those nasty tapeworm egg sacs stuck to his rump fur. Cleaning continued today to ensure no eggs or egg sacs left on anything in apartment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsH5sRbIzsk&list=PL2XgVSuFlTffmnKIfSjEZd9Aw6Qz-4bCH&index=73 ,video of living tapeworm segment that came out of Teddy’s butt. Continuing NaturPet IntestiCare with food grade diatomaceous earth with pate every day.
Feb. 8 to 9- Had 1/4 inch tapeworms on rump fur which were crawling out from anus. Treated with Fido's All Wormer Tablets for Dogs, Cats, Kittens and Puppies. Had solid stool with watery substance and next day no mare tapeworms on rump fur or crawling out of anus.
Feb. 6- Putting sheets on bed is play time for Teddy.
Feb. 5- He is not aggressive to female spay cats & has been sniffing around Winnie with some grooming. Also grooming human hair and some licks on nose too.
Feb. 3- Teddy is engaging other cats in friendly ways in wanting to sit, play and groom; sniffing noses. Gave Petey some grooms today Petey is slow to warm up but getting more accustomed to him. Winnie has best relationship so far. Luke and Tuffy are bonded and Luke tends to dominate all cats including Teddy. Teddy just keeps away from him and not aggressive to other cats.
Jan. 26- Engages other cats in good ways in sitting, eating & playing with them. Sits & sleeps on lap; likes to sit next you on floor, bed & chair. Makes great computer assistant. His love bug behaviour indicates he received some human love; can kiss on top of head and nose the more he gets accustomed to you.
Jan. 24- Settled in and loves to play with toys attached to strings or bungee and other toys including by himself. Tries to engage other cats in sitting with them and in play but they are still hesitant to play and just beginning to let him sit near him.
Jan. 22- Has different meows depending on what he wants or feels. Soft meow when wanting affection. Allows hugs. Loves having tent set up on sofa or chair to sleep under. Ate some peanut butter from my bagel, lol. He obviously had indoor home; when humans eating he expects food from them and to lick bowls. Winnie 8 year old black female has been warming up to him; she has a friendly personality. Other cats a little slower except Luke whom is alpha to all other cats only Tuffy 1 year old female is Luke's buddy. I interact with them when they interact with each other and are close with petting and toys.
Jan. 20- Allowed a kiss on top of nose approached from the front.
Jan. 19- Teddy ( Theodore White Whisker, formerly & occasionally still called Mr. White Whisker)Feeding intesticare with wet breakfast. Occasional watery eyes allows to clean but still wiggly worm for that. Likes being picked up and with front paws on shoulder especially to look outside. Super friendly and playful with toys; will engage hands gently with play. Bonkers in the tunnel ball attached to it; see video.
Jan. 14- Has had continuous watery eyes yesterday and today had some goo on eyes. Cleaned and administered eye cleanse and vetericyn anti microbial gel. 8 AM. 4 PM repeated eye rinse and vetericyn. Giving IntestiCare in canned food.
Update Jan. 13- Teddy (Theodore White Whisker) will be name using for him unless he responds or shows preference to some other phonetic structure. Teddy appears to suit his personality as he is a cuddly friendly teddy bear. Has been more playful with toys, tunnels, box, people and cats. Relaxing more at window. Lap cat now allowing to be picked up and cuddled and stays on lap for naps.
Update Jan. 9- Is gregarious playing with all forms of toys he is engaged with and ones he pulls from toy pile or box. Likes toys attached to string and wand, balls all other cat toys and cat tunnel with ball on it. More playful after a couple of weeks as he is more comfortable inside. His ear clip has a piece of skin hanging from it, looks like a double cut; it will fall off within a week. Tries to engage other cats just to sit with them getting more comfortable with them they him; Luke has been chasing him occasionally grasping him with paw and he does not hiss, swat or attack back. Luke does it to other cats in house too.
Update Jan. 7- Got on bed and slept next to my chest for awhile for first time; definitely has been an indoor cat as all behaviour indicates.
Update Jan. 6- He has the most timid disposition of any cat I have known. Other cats hiss at him he does not hiss back; Luke chased him and he just runs off. No growling, hissing, swatting or stalking; very vocal in meowing. Administered eye drops and he squirmed but did not scratch, bite, hiss or growl and afterwards when I let him go he just sat beside me and I petted him.
Will sit on lap if you pick him up and place him there or go there by himself.
Update Jan. 5- He enjoys sitting on your lap. While standing and walking on lap I was able to hug him. Vocalizes when wanting attention. Vocalizes at door too and if you pet him he will prefer that and stop vocalizing. Looks to engage my cats but not aggressive; my cats will take a little longer as usual. I have picked him up and placed him on sofa where other cats are and petted him. Luke has tried to play with him but he just runs away.
Update Jan. 4- Slept for most of night did n
