Looking for equipment operators (Excavator, Dozer, Grader, Rock truck, Loader) and laborers willing to do seasonal work in the Yukon from April until the end of September. Lack of prior operating experience should not be a deterrent for rock truck and loader positions.
Mining work site will be located outside of Dawson City, Yukon. Housing and food provided on site (no additional charge). Work schedule will be 12 days on 2 days off, 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. shifts. Seasonal work starting from April to September.
Initial travel out to the camp will be paid for by the company. Employees who do not stay for the full season will be required to reimburse this amount upon leaving. Additional travel back and forth (not work related) will be at employee’s expense.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ability to operate within a fast-paced environment in a safe and efficient manner
- Clean, lubricate, and maintain equipment
- Assist with general labor duties when needed
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment at all times

About the Opportunity
Currently, Johnston Builders has an exciting opportunity for a Project Coordinator to join our team in Whitehorse, Yukon on a full-time basis. Occasional travel to sites will be required.
Some of your key responsibilities within this role will include:- Work closely with the Project Superintendent/Manager/Director to collaborate on all aspects of the project
- Aid in the buy-out process
- Prepare subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders
- Prepare contracts under the direction of the Project Manager

In order to qualify for this role, you'll need at least 2 years of experience in the construction industry (commercial, industrial, multi-family residential). A diploma or degree in construction engineering, a CET designation, or equivalent education/experience is an asset - recent graduates are encouraged to apply! A valid Class 5 driver's license is required.

Your new role

The position will require you to support both customers and other trades people in the resolution, component repair/rebuild, haul truck/shovel repair, and equipment assembly/repair issues in the effective troubleshooting of equipment. Other duties include installation of new parts and equipment in accordance with generally accepted industry standards, as well as, site specific best practices. Having experience in performing component failure analysis to improve the operation of installed parts and equipment will help you to succeed.
About the location:
The home base is the Whitehorse location. This is a Monday to Friday rotation.

About the Opportunity

Some of your key responsibilities within this role will include:- Working closely with design-build team from project conception to completion and communicating closely with planning departments and permit authorities

More About You
In order to qualify for this role, you'll need at least 10 years of experience in the construction industry, with preferably at least 7 years of project management experience. A diploma or degree in Construction Engineering or equivalent education/experience is an asset.
You must have a clear understanding of the Building Code, and the commercial and light industrial construction industry, with the ability to coordinate and oversee projects in the $500,000 to $30 million range. A valid Class 5 driver's license and a reliable vehicle are required.
