Members of the community are encouraged to come out and be part of our audience and enjoy an evening of musical entertainment for FREE!
OPEN STAGE Night at Barrie Public Library Painswick Branch Wednesday April 10th from 600pm - 830pm
Join the Barrie Folk Society, a not-for-profit organization that cares about the growth and nurturing of the folk/roots music movement in our community, as they share their passion for acoustic music. Listen to the sound of live music or bring your instrument and play your favourite tunes in an “OPEN STAGE” format.
Different from the event at the downtown branch, the format for this event will be an “OPEN STAGE” event for acoustic musicians. Each performer (solo or groups) will have the opportunity to take the stage to perform a three-song set (of no more than 15 minutes). This is intended to be an opportunity to get comfortable performing in front of others or to see how an audience responds to your original material.
The event will run on the second Wednesday of the month from 6-830 pm and sign up time will begin at 5:45 pm. There will be 10 guaranteed spots. At the conclusion of the 10 performances the host will apportion the remaining time available between those that have not yet performed and/or give others a chance for extra songs.

IMMEDIATE ENTERTAINMENT PRESS RELEASE
The Bowie Lives: Canada's Most Sensational Bowie Spectacular is coming to Midland presented by Blackrose Entertainment on April 28, 2023, to Midland Cultural Centre - Rotary Hall
333 King St, 7:30 pm with doors at 7 pm"5 stars! Unbelievable" from Richard Crouse of CTV's PopLife.
"By far the coolest Bowie tribute I've ever seen," says promoter Sam Grosso.
They're talking about "The Bowie Lives" Canada's most sensational Bowie Spectacular!
Michael Bell is an award-winning vocalist who channels the sound and styles of David Bowie, and with the help of an all-star band, theatre, and costumes that capture the imagination of fans young and old.
"Daring & Imaginative" ~ The Wire MEGAzine.
Michael's first theatrical production "ChangesAllBowie" toured the "A circuit" in the late '80s, but he hung up his "Ziggy" in the early '90s. After David's untimely death on January 10, 2016, his calling returned, as did the industry interest. Contacting long-time musical director Michael Beauclerc, they began auditioning players to fill out a band capable of performing some of rock's most challenging material. The Bowie Lives brings all the sounds and visions to the stage,
from Space Oddity to Lazarus."The show is more of a happening," explains Michael.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcjjUehwk7EAudience members are inspired to adorn their favorite "BOWIE look."
Come dressed as Bowie and don't forget to get your Bowie on as free face painting is often offered in the lobby! In addition, "The Bowie Bazaar" displays and sells; Bowie collectibles. t-shirts, merch, music, and more, so come early and browse.
