Job Description:Main Design Release Engineer Objectives: * Develop technical requirements for components and subsystems of conventional automatic and hybrid transmissions * Evaluate designs to the "engineering best practice" documents * Develop DFMEAs and access designs for failure modes robustness * Develop DVP&R plans to validate design changes * Develop Tools, Test Procedures and Acceptance Criteria for transmission components * Collaborate appropriate Design Detailing and CAE activities for design updates and or new designs * Support manufacturing on production related issues * Generate and implement cost reduction ideas * Participate in warranty/cost reduction meetings and develop solutions for warranty issues * Conduct root cause analysis of transmission failures and identify the root cause/s * Collaborate with transmission systems group to address and support any failures using the appropriate tools and processes * Provide guidance and direction to suppliers through resourcing, process or sourcing changes, and development using the appropriate change management system * Important to note the manager is not looking for Designers. The candidates would have Product Engineer on their resume as that is the term that is commonly used elsewhere. Requirements: * Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Chemical or Computer Engineering, or related Engineering field from an ABET accredited university * 3-5 years of automotive engineering experience in product development design and release with a minimum of 2 years of powertrain experience * Relevant experience in engineering die cast aluminum components, park system components (pawl, gear, rod assembly, etc), and seals. * Competent in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT) * Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) * Excellent work ethic, organization skills, and communication skills Preferred Requirements: * Master's degree in an engineering related field * Working knowledge of NX/Teamcenter * Design for Six Sigma certification * Experience and working knowledge of automatic transmission and driveline components Job ID: 28983059

Job Description:We are currently recruiting an experienced Application Engineer (Design Systems) to join our team supporting our client in the automotive industry. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Lead interface between the Chief Engineering team and the Product Release Center * Managing system interactions and interfaces between components and subsystems of the EDM gearbox * Design Systems / Applications Engineer reports to the Chief Engineer for multiple programs * EDM Gearbox hardware system responsible (integration and system balancing of all EDM gearbox components) * Interfacing with individual Design Release Engineers and COEs, Manufacturing, Suppliers & Development Validation Center * Schedules hardware system design reviews across PRC and reviews DRE design proposals as required * Organize reviews with Virtual Analysis / CAE team and ensures Virtual DVP / Scorecard is completed prior to any prototype hardware orders * Manage Driveline System and Interface DFMEA / DRBFM (team) reviews to ensure complete transparency and development of cohesive Design Controls leading to Robust DVP Actions * Supports CE & ACE to develop FTE and ER&D/ED&D Cost Roll-ups for Minor/MCA/ New Programs * Review and approve all change notices ensuring checklists, LL, and E-BPs are updated and aligned * Leads Technical Cost Reductions (TCRs) / Value Optimization (VO) effort and alignment working closely with PRC, DVC and VO teams - moved from AE responsibilities to align better * Represents CE in managing the "lessons learned" document for the program and ensures that TS (Technical Specialist) receives those updates on a timely manner to update the E-BPs accordingly * Reviews driveline system and applicable component "Validation Completion" status with DVC team periodically & provides update to CE * Coordinates DRBTR review and keeper of "follow up items" and decision maker on issuing GIMS for buds of problems * Manage CQI and GIMS cross-functional task force teams working closely with ACE, create priorities, and action plans and track progress, align and update initiatives list REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: * Bachelor's in engineering - Mechanical, Electrical or Equivalent * 0-3 years engineering experience * General knowledge of EDM Gearboxes, Drivelines, Axles or Transmission Systems and interface requirements * Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presenting complex material to various audiences * Strong leadership and problem-solving skills with a bias for action and issue resolution * Ability to work under pressure and in a time constrained environment * Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve * Self-motivated * Excellent organizational skills including prioritizing work assignments PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: * 5 years of engineering experience in the driveline, axles, transmission, electrified driveline systems, or powertrain systems engineering experience * Gearbox, Driveline or Axle Design Release Responsibility * Master in Engineering - Mechanical, Electrical or Equivalent * Supervisory or leadership of small team experience * General knowledge and experience of powertrain duty cycle analysis * Ability to manage a high volume of part/system complexity * Knowledge of powertrain product development processes * Knowledge in the application of Functional Block Diagrams, Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Validation Plan and Report (DVP&R) * Green/black belt in Shainin or DFSS is desirable * Experience with electric motors for automotive applications * Proven ability to manage multiple, concurrent projects to a successful conclusion * System Level Thinker -- The ability to understand how the different powertrain components and systems are interdependent * Excellent presentation skills NOTE: * Hybrid * Valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record * Must be willing and able to travel to USA, without restrictions, effective on the start date OTHER PERKS & BENEFITS: * Paid Benefits after 90 days (individual and family) - extended medical, out-of-country coverage, dental etc. * Pension eligibility, with employer match, after 1 full year of work (open enrollment every October) MEDA offers an excellent referral bonus.
