Job Description:OSP Telecom Designer: As a OSP Telecom Designer, you will actively showcase your expert knowledge of OSP telecommunications and become a key contributing member to successful projects across Canada. RESPONSIBILITIES Perform the detailed design of FTTP networks from Central Office (C.O.) to customer Point of Entry (P.O.E.). Map service boundaries and allocate fiber counts. Determine the most effective method and materials required to service all locations within a given boundary including Residential, Commercial and MDU classifications. Design Hybrid Fiber Coaxial (HFC) broadband plant, including signal level and power supplies. Complete projects such as HFC node splits, segmentations, and RF plant optimizations. Perform work in compliance with up-to-date safety codes, electric codes, customer practices and procedures. Assess and incorporate municipal, regional, and third-party requirements to create permit documents. Reference specification sheets, standards documents, joint-use agreements, utility maps, survey files, site photographs and as-built documents. When working in a new market, assist in creating and updating specification sheets and standards documents. Provide technical guidance based on expert knowledge of telecom infrastructure and industry construction standards. Conduct quality reviews and critique of work products. Recommend solutions that will improve technical and operational efficiency. Draft IFR, IFC and ASR packages. Create material order forms, testing sheets, typical drawings, splicing schematics, and client database posting (Spatial Net, Network X, GCOMM). Complete data entry functions as needed. ATTRIBUTES Excellent knowledge, and proficiency with current computer operating systems and Microsoft applications. Demonstrated proficiency with AutoCAD. Committed to professional development: learning, and understanding technical requirements pertaining to new industry products and tools as well as utility design and construction practices.Maintains ownership of deliverables for the entire lifecycle of a project. Able to make reasoned and sound decisions. Possesses excellent project management and time management skills with the ability to execute multiple simultaneous responsibilities.Highly detail-oriented, self-starter individual with excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to stay organized and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment. QUALIFICATIONS 5 or more years of specializing in Outside Plant Telecommunications network design.Graduate of an Engineering or Technical program.Success leading and performing in team environments.Experience mentoring and training individuals.History of achieving goals.Diverse exposure with Canadian Telco’s Job ID: 31348864
