Job Description:Do you Enjoy getting messy and cleaning up? Do you value mother nature and all types of weather? Are you a hands-on learner and enjoy helping children learn alongside you? Little Pumpkins Inc- Early Learning Centre And Kentville After-School Program is seeking an summer student ECE or child-related field, a "superhero in training" to add to our amazing team of educators. Position includes 30-40 hours per week; anywhere from 1-5pm to 9hrs with 1 hr break Monday to Friday. Hours will be less until summer care starts in July; July 1 to sept 1/23 will be 40 hrs per week. Your duties as a Student teacher include: * Assisting with Daily Class activity programming (science, sensory, social emotional, responsibility, confidence, independence, etc) * Attending outings, following safety policies * Following Classroom Routine * Helping maintain classroom supplies * Making Messes and Tidying up with helpers * Follow NS COVID-19 public health recommendations for child care * Follow day-to-day licensing requirements and center policies of best practice * Positive Behaviour guidance * Model and lead by example for the children * Use the program/App HiMaMa to send updates and record keeping daily- no experience necessary, technology basics required We are a Reggio Emilia philosophy center and love to get messy and have fun indoor and out. Our center is located close to downtown Kentville, Nova Scotia, close to accommodations, cafes, shops and parks. * We go on adventures exploring nature's playgrounds around us, getting outside and getting messy are part of our day-to-day fun. An ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive attitude, self-starter, motivated and outside the box thinker. You enjoy learning and always striving for self-improvement professionally and personally. Your friends and family describe you as always doing things and always on the go. When you do not know how to do solve a problem, you ask for help from those around you, working together as a team to solve it. We practice extending learning through play; you will need to think on your toes, be able to create and extend learning opportunities as they arise and plan for future activities based on the interests observed in the classroom. Requirements: Starting or enrolled in an accredited ECE program or post secondary school in a child related field. Experience an asset. Be aware and understand NS regulations for Early childhood Centers in practice or willing to learn - we recommend reading the document available online through the Early Childhood department and asking questions. This position is NOT through the Canada Summer Jobs Program - no age or immigration restrictions apply; international and over 30 yr old students welcome to apply.
