This introductory course provides an overview of electrical industrial motor control and basic electrical diagram reading.
The course is designed for students or techs that want to work in the industrial control field and are seeking an overview of what makes up an industrial control system.
An overview of industrial electric motor control wiring, schematics and single line diagrams is provided in this course.
Students will be introduced to industrial control concepts and methods used for the control of electric motors in industrial control systems. You will recognize symbols used in electrical wiring and schematic diagrams. A student will be exposed to IEEE/NEMA and IEC style electrical schematics and gain understanding of the difference between each schematic.
Learn the relationship between power and control circuits within an electrical schematic set. A student will learn about motor control circuitry such as: motor overload protection, 2-wire and 3-wire control, reversing and non reversing starter diagrams, and mechanical & electrical interlocking.
This course gets you up to speed in the basics of industrial electric diagram reading:
Read basic industrial control electrical diagrams.
Interpret the three main types of of diagrams: wiring diagram, schematic diagram and single line diagram (SLD).
Recognize the difference between wiring diagrams and schematic diagrams.
Recognize common electrical symbols used in schematic diagrams.
Understand the two main standards applied to electrical schematics: IEEE/NEMA and IEC.
List the differences between IEC and IEEE/NEMA style diagrams.
Understand wire and device numbering systems.
Understand page coordinate and ladder wire and device location cross references.
Learn how parent and child components in multipage schematics are cross referenced.

ONLINE Ontario SECURITY GUARD Officer TRAINING COURSE $89
Complete the mandatory 40-hour SECURITY GUARD training course ONLINE at THE ACADEMY OF INVESTIGATIVE STUDIES at your own pace and convenience, and qualify to write the Ontario Security Guard test to obtain your security guard licence.
We are an accredited training institution and authorized to provide the course to those seeking to enter this versatile, enjoyable, and challenging field. You may start your course of study at ANY time, and complete it entirely at your own schedule. Most importantly, you will be trained by a true expert with decades of experience in the security field.
Your instructor has 32 years of experience as a private investigator and private security specialist. He has worked as a retail security specialist, a security supervisor at a large Toronto hotel, a celebrity bodyguard, and operated his own agency since 1988. He is also a professional author and writer, with a wicked sense of humour….so you’ll find the course to be well-written and highly entertaining!
During this course, students have access to online resources including embedded training videos and other highly effective training aids. Real-time interaction with your expert instructor is available whenever needed, as well as through our online class “forum” and occasional online meetings. All of your questions about the course materials - and the industry in general - will be answered.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a Certificate of Completion as well as an official Training Completion Number (TCN), which will allow them to book their test. Upon passing the test, candidates may then apply for their Ontario security guard licence.
The entire course costs only $89.00* plus HST. You can register and pay online. We accept Interac e-transfers as well as Paypal.

I’m a certified yoga teacher who teaches online and in person (only during summer, spring and fall) classes for all levels of experience
I teach dog yoga online ($15 per person for 45 minutes) and a few other classes, but if you prefer to schedule one with me outside of my regular class schedule you can message me :)

This Ministry of Transportation approved course is essential for anyone wanting to operate a commercial vehicle equipped with air brakes. Students are taught skills in order to comply with Ontario's air brake legislation and to further understand what conditions would cause an air brake equipped vehicle to be placed out of service. Students will be taught how a modern air brake system works as well as the importance of having a well-balanced and maintained system to optimize braking performance. The course will also focus on understanding how to properly inspect and test a modern air brake system, ensuring that students can identify, report and initiate the steps necessary for repairs to be madeWe are providing these 2 days classes on Saturday & Sunday at 9:00 am
