Fantail pigeons are medium-sized birds known for their distinctive fan-shaped tails, which consist of 30 to 40 feathers, making them visually striking. They are gentle and calm, ideal as pets or for ornamental purposes, and come in various colors including white, and brown/red and gray.
These birds meet or exceed show standards. Well-balanced, elegant with proud carriage and upright stance. Their tails are broad, dramatically fan-shaped when displayed. Their stand is high and nearly vertical in show posture.
All birds are healthy, well-fed, clean, and free from defects or parasites.
First time thinking about it?
Fantail pigeons require a spacious cage or aviary, ideally at least 7 feet long, 4 feet wide, and 6 feet high for a small group, along with daily out-of-cage time for exercise. They need a balanced diet containing seeds such as wheat, corn, mustard seeds and peas, grit for digestion and regular cleaning of their living space. They need companionship as they are social animals that thrive in pairs or groups.
