Home built solar furnace. This solar furnace will nearly double the temperature of the air passing through it at a rate of approximately 500cfm when in direct sunlight. If setup up on a simple tracking stand, it would provide that heat for almost eight hours on a typical mid winter day, more in spring and fall. A simple tracker can be constructed using two solar panels capable of producing 5 amps at 12 volts, and a salvaged car wiper motor and gearbox assembly. If mounted on a tracking stand I would estimate a 25% to 35% reduction in home heating costs. The lens is double wall Sabic U.V. stabilized green house poly carbonate which was warrantied for ten years. The furnace was only exposed to light for one winter. 11 cubic foot Kenmore stand up freezer. Works good. Clean, spotless. Basically only used sporadically over the years Manufactured date in 1997. No damage on the door seal but it is not magnetic, so installed snap latch keeps everything snug. It's down basement stairs, so need some muscle to get out. 10 steps.
