It is with some heartbreak and sadness that we must list our great yacht "Catfish" due to the fact that Mosquito Creek Marina will be shutting down permanently on May 31st, 2024 and we are unable to up sticks and move just to keep our boat.
Our misfortune could be your opportunity!We can offer the moorage until May 31st but after that you have to be gone. There is NO CHANCE of renewing the moorage at Mosquito Creek Marina.
Vessel is surveyed at $40 000 and insured for $50 000 but she does need a some work to finish her off and make her a dream yacht. We weren't expecting to have to sell so suddenly so some things are unfinished and the paint looks horrible but the engine runs and she's ready to motor away. Some more work needed to get her sailing-see below.
ALL offers considered, with with priority to those who are willing to take the vessel off our hands quickly and painlessly.
We have put over $22 000 into the boat in the last 5 years which I have listed below. I have done most of the work myself as I am a qualified Marine Service Technician with 15 yrs experience. The dream was to sail to Mexico but the marina shut down has thrown a wrench into that plan for now.

The Good:
-Built by DeKleer Bros. in Richmond. Local beauty.
-VERY stout and sea kindly vessel. Hull is almost 1 inch thick where the through-hulls are installed and forward upper cabin top sides are 3/4" of solid fibreglass where the portlights are installed. They don't build 'em this solid anymore. She weighs 10 tons to a modern vessels 4-6 yet still glides on the water like a lady. One of the few hulls approved to compete in the Golden Globe ocean race. Youtube channel " La Vagabond" also stayed on an Endurance for a while.
-Hull is insulated below waterline and also the pilothouse roof is insulated too.
- 3/4 Full Keel (Lead Encapsulated) means nothing to worry about falling off, especially if you accidentally ground the boat or hit logs.
-Heavy rudder means the steering is a little stiff but the rudder does not move under most sea conditions-improving handling ability as a single-hander.
- Dickinson Alaska diesel stove warms the boat so well you'll be opening window within 20 mins even in the dead of winter.
-Dickenson BBQ
- Perkins 4108 diesel engine is original and although old still runs like a charm. 41hp engine.
-Lowrance chartplotter with card and depth sounder.
- Two anchors(CQR main, Danforth second., chain etc. 200' main all chain, 150' chain and rode for danforth.
-Lofrans windlass works great.
-Water tanks, approx 25 gals.
Fuel-50 gals.
Waste Tank, approx 20 gals.-Mainsail, stay sail, and 2 yankee-genoa type sails all in used condition. Used means old and a little frayed but they work.
- Winches on mast, in cockpit all in good working cond.
-V-berth sleeps two adults as long as you're not much taller than 5foot 8.
-Double berth on portside.
- Head and shower are enclosed with separate vanity sink. Shower drain needs to be installed.-I have been refitting the vessel over the previous 5 years.
Improvements include:-$1200 New Raritan marine head with HOUSEHOLD sized toilet bowl so you don't have to perch your butt on a bottle cap. Never used, just tested with seawater.
-$ 100 New anti-syphon vents for head intake and discharge, hoseclamps etc.
-$800 New Bomar hatch for the head. Installed 2023.-$3000 New Dickenson Caribbean 2 burner stove, used twice to boil water for tea.
-$150 New propane sensor and wiring, full propane tank.
-$60 New smoke alarms 2023.
-$20 New portlight gaskets.-$7000 New standing rigging including all shrouds, turnbuckles, clevis and cotter pins.
-$200 New main and headsail halyards
-$200 New clutch cleat for main halyard. (Not installed.)

-$ 20 New gooseneck bolt.-$1500 New Marelon Through-hulls(4) with new epoxy bases and fittings. One bronze seacock. New engine intake strainer.

The Bad:
-She needs a haul out this summer for new bottom paint and possibly a rudder re-skin.
-The decks need to be repainted and the wood re-varnished. I have started removing the paint from the cabin top but I was halted by rain last summer.
-The decks have some cracks in them. This only affects the paint layer and multiple surveys have shown no water intrusion or damage. Quite common for old boats.
-The fabric liner on the ceiling of the fwd-mid cabin is starting to peel off. I have already removed it in the V-berth.
- A couple of rainwater leaks need to be fixed when the weather dries up.
-Hydraulic steering needs some maintenance but works.
-Previous owner removed the headsail tracks, so new ones need to be installed or otherwise fixed attachment points for the blocks to run the sheets aft to the cockpit need to be installed.
-Freshwater system needs some new hose, some fittings etc.The Ugly:
-The top panel of the cockpit seating is slowly rotting and needs replacement within the next two years. It's just the top plywood panels which One sits on that need to be replaced. A good carpenter could do it within a couple of days. The reason it is rotting is because whoever built it decades ago painted EVERYTHING EXCEPT the underside of the seat panel and thus that is where its rotting. Practically; this means the board sags when you step on it but since it isn't a structural feature and every other board and frame piece is dry and sound it isn't cause for immediate concern but I would be remiss if I didn't mention it. I knew of this problem when I bought the vessel 5 years ago and haven't fixed it yet since it just wasn't top of the list of priorities.
-The awning canvas is old, dirty, and the clear window section is broken. The frame is good.
-Dinghy holds air but it's old and the handles are falling off. Needs replacement.
-2 stroke outboard needs work on the throttle. I only started it once.
