  FSR Preparation Courses - Online Delivery

  Thompson Rivers University is an approved training provider of Technical Safety BC’s mandatory FSR Preparation courses.

  An Electrical Field Safety Representative (FSR) is a person who is certified to make declarations that the work described in an electrical installation or operating permit complies with the Safety Standards Act and Electrical Safety Regulation. An FSR can make these declarations on behalf of a contractor. In order to become a certified FSR, you must meet certain eligibility requirements (dependent on certification class) and pass a certification exam.

  TRU's FSR course offerings are delivered fully online with continuous enrolment availability. The preparation courses are self-paced and self-directed, and include subject matter support by phone and email. Participant registration grants 30 weeks of access to the course to prepare for their desired FSR exam successfully. Current FSR Preparation offerings are as follows:

  This course is required for those needing to add the airbrake endorsement to their current class of license and is designed to prepare students for the ICBC written examination to operate air brake-equipped highway vehicles. Emphasis is placed on safe operating procedures and ongoing maintenance of air brake systems. Upon successful completion of this course, participants will be provided an airbrake pre-trip authorization identifying satisfactory trainin and assessment which you will take to ICBC when you take your airbrake knowledge test withing 90 days of issue.

  I will be conducting a Fly Tying Course for 3 weeks with 2 sessions per week for a total of 6 sessions starting on February 13th and final session will be held on February 29th. Sessions will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30pm to 10 pm or whatever time is convenient for participants. The cost of the course will be $150. All equipment snd supplies will be provided.

  This WorkSafeBC course provides Occupational First Aid, Level 1 and 2 certificate holders with the required training to move injured workers.

  The curriculum includes:

  Patient handling and lifting techniques
  Use of the spine board and basket stretchers
  Spinal immobilization techniques

  Critical interventions
  Transportation method
  Upon successful completion, you will receive a Transportation endorsement certificate. This certificate expires with the Occupational First Aid Level 1 or 2 certificates.

  For our refresher and car rental packages, the car will be available 60 minutes before the test. During the first 30 minutes, students can drive to ensure comfort and familiarize themselves with the vehicle's controls. Additional practice time can be added for $25 per 30 minutes or $50 per hour.   Canadian Firearms Safety Courses (one day courses):
  • Non-Restricted courses: Mar. 9, 23; Apr. 6, 20; May 4
  • Restricted courses: Apr. 21; Jun. 23
  $140.00 per person/per course. All courses are one-day courses. Successful completion allows application for a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL / Restricted PAL).

  Ages 12 years and up are welcome (minors are able to take the non-restricted course only). Delivered in Grovedale by experienced, A.H.E.I.A. certified instructors. Small class sizes allow for one-on-one instruction during the hands-on portion of the course.

  We do offer private group courses. If you have a group of 10 or more people who would like to get their Possession Acquisition Licence (non-restricted and/or restricted), we will come to you to deliver the course, or you can come to our facility.
