If you can not care for you animal properly or you aren't ready for a pet or even if you are moving or don't live in the right circumstances to have a pet then you can contact me and we will get things sorted out so your pet can live comfortably until the owners can take the animal back. This is completely free although it would be nice to be supplied with their food, crate and toys if you have any for them. My foster care can range from short term to long term depending on what the owners want. Just know your pet will be in safe hands and will be loved unconditionally with all their needs taken care of. Please read before buying a hamster.
I have seen so much of improper care for hamsters recently online, reading these tips will help you and your hamster. Most people do not know how to properly care for a hamster and its largely the pet stores that are not giving you the proper information!
They're not really ideal for many people as they're awake around 11pm to 8am. If you just wake them up they could be grumpy and bite, it also isn't good for the hamster to ruin its sleeping cycle.
Hamsters do not show pain like dogs or cats do, syrain/teddy hamsters should never be together. They can and will kill each other and will not hesitate to actually eat the other hamster afterwards even.
Please know before getting a hamster, the pet stores want to make as much money as they can from you, you can save money!! and give your hamster a good life by following these do's and don'ts
Dont!
1: Buy plastic cages with tubes and holes are not good, they're too small and the ventilation is bad you could give your hamster lung problems, tubes are hard to clean and you will need to spot clean a small cage like this each day and deep clean every week! It will also be smelly.Do!
1: Buy or use an old fish tank, you can get a fish tank that it not properly water sealed for free often. You can also use storage bins and cut a hole in the top and put mesh over the hole with a glue gun. This is a fun thing for kids and is cheaper than most all hamster cages at stores it is also better for your hamster. A fish tank or storage bin cage is closed on most sides but not the top, this makes them less smelly and gives you more room for bedding. You won't need to clean it as much and it will be less smellyDon't!
2: Do not use wheels with holes they can break your hamsters toes, cause bleeding and in rare cases break a legDo!
2: Use a wheel which has no holes or slits and a size of at least 8-12 inches for a syrain hamster and other hamsters 7 inches at a minimum if it's too small it will hurt their backs.Don't!
3: Give hamsters too many sweets or treats you could give them diabetes or other issues.Do!
3: Give them a high protein hamster food as well as a hamster seed mix and fresh greens once or twice a weak. Yogurt drops no more than twice a weekOther important stuff:
- Hamsters need alot of bedding as they are animals that want to dig and make holes and tunnels in the ground 5-8 inches of bedding. You don't need the whole tank at this level but at least one area of the cage or tank should be.
- Hamsters do like to clean themselves with sand, you can get a chinchilla sand at pet stores and a small dish the hamster will use it for cleaning, avoid anything that says dust
- You can litter train your hamster by finding the corner it pees and putting a litter bot there, just put some old pee pee shavings in the new litter box and they will use it.
They will poop all over because they have less control over it and often eat their own poop as dogs sometimes do to get more nutrients.- Old hams can't eat many seeds and hard hamster foods because it hurts their teeth. In the wild they will pee on their food to make it soft to eat. If your ham can't eat their food they will loose weight and be unhealthy.
A good diet for an old ham is a quick porridge. Just quick oats with no sugar and warm water, this is ok as an everyday meal, along with canned meal worm. You can also microwave hamster pellets with water to soften them, just let them cool.
Other things you can give old hams: boiled egg whites, fruit and vegetables, rice and pasta, baby food. These should not be given everyday however unless in very small amounts.

I love animals, and I’m most of the time at home. If anyone needs help with their pet, I’m happy to help. I have a Great Dane at home, he is a very calm neutered boy.
