Description
Toshio is a Composer, Piano/Theory/Guitar Teacher, RCM and Jazz Accompanist located in Toronto. He’s taught for nearly 11 years both privately and in schools across the Greater Toronto Area. He studied Piano with Christina Petrowska Quilico, a student of the legendary Rosina Lhevinne, composition with Keith Sokol, and Guitar with Faculty of Humber College. Toshio teaches various styles of composition to beginning, intermediate and advanced musicians - theory, Ableton, Max/Msp/Jitter, Logic, FMOD, Bandlab, Sonar, and virtual instruments. As a composer, he scores for films, games, stock libraries and writes pop/rock beats for singers. His students receive high marks on exams and have won 1st place prizes in provincial competitions. For online lessons, he uses an audio routing software that enables students to receive clear sound from his Piano.
Toshio regularly prepares students for recitals, competitions, auditions, and exams. He teaches all ages and all levels (beginner to ARCT) and in various styles (Classical, Jazz, Rock/Pop, Soundtrack, Composition). His students have continued to University and College in Music. As an industry musician, Toshio regularly performs with his original group Hear I Saw A. His music is available for listening on Spotify under the alias Hear I Saw A. His students have consistently received high marks on RCM exams and have won 1st place prizes in competitions.
He strives to share a love of learning with students - and fellow teachers. His current interests are in 20th century Pianism - such as the work of Sviatoslav Richter, Alfred Cortot, Bill Evans, Art Tatum, and etc.
