Please read this description to learn more about us! Shipping of the hamster will cost between 30-100 CAD depending on where you are in Canada. Most provinces cost $60.
We work specifically with rex hamsters and long haireds, in the colors of chocolate, rust, black, golden, yellow, and silver grey, and will be working with extreme dilute (import from US in May 2024) and polywhite rex (import from China in June 2024).
Our global waitlist is open to all hamster lovers in Canada. We do have strict expectations for hamster care though. Our hamsters are known for their chunky self (they hit 200g+ plus), and sassy, unique, and calm personalities.
We run off of a waitlist. Baby hamsters will be chosen at 4 weeks old and then at 6-8 weeks old will be able to go to their new homes. Our hamsters eat seed mix and lab blocks but also tons of human-grade foods including chicken, salmon, tuna, shrimp, kale, cucumber, carrots, and cabbage. Our hamsters have a drastic difference from those in pet stores because of their natural good temperament and their physical body type (bigger and broader face). We differ from pet stores because our hamsters are not from rodent mills and are not bred for profit. Our adopters have expressed great joy in the friendliness and longevity of our pups in contrast to pet store hamsters. We run off of a waitlist where the wait time is 2-5 months to ensure proper breeding practice. Read more in our website about how we care for our hamsters but this ad will explain how one would begin the adoption process.
The process:
1. Fill out the adoption application (link below). Message us on any of our platforms to speed up the reply process. There is a $15 non-refundable deposit that must be paid to hold your spot on the waitlist. This is deposit after we respond to your application (usually same day)2. During the waiting period, adopters are expected to research hamster care and gather the necessary supplies. We have an online shop for supplies!
3. When the pups are ready for adoption, you will be either matched with a pup or be able to choose. Pups are matched based on personalities and what you are looking for. All pups are usually well-socialized and great with handling. The total adoption fee is $80, with $15 deposit and the $65 remaining is to be paid at the time of adoption. An adoption contract is to be signed at the time of adoption. **adoption fee is negotiable in specific circumstances.

Looking for family-raised, tame, and healthy pedigreed baby Syrian hamsters? Consider Lavender Meadows Hamstery! We are in Richmond but our adopters are all across BC. Our waitlist is open for spring/summer 2024 as we are expecting lots of litters this season. All adoptions are based off the waitlist system (minimum 1-2 month wait) and require an application.
We are proud to be the only ethical breeder of Syrian hamsters in the Lower Mainland. We breed very selectively to produce the best quality Syrian hamsters that have a friendly, gentle, and natural kind temperament along with an improving lifespan (3+ years). 3 hours daily is spent socializing and caring for adults and babies from 14 days old onwards. All babies have been socialized with kids and people profusely. If you’re looking for hamsters that have been specifically bred for temperament and health, please reach out to us! Hamsters in the pet store are bred for quantity by rodent mills to make a profit. Mills maximize profits by using the smallest possible cages and cheapest supplies/food, thereby disregarding the well-being of hamsters. Mother hamsters are bred until they can’t be bred and then disposed of.
We work specifically with rex, long and short hairs, in the colours of chocolate, rust, black, golden, yellow, and silver grey. We also work with polywhite/banded patterns.
We do have high expectations for hamster care but no experience is required to adopt, only an open mindset!
Our hamsters are known for their chunky self (they hit 200g+ plus), and sassy, unique, and calm personalities. Our adopters have expressed great joy in the friendliness and longevity of our pups in contrast to pet store hamsters. We run off of a waitlist where the wait time is 2-5 months to ensure proper breeding practice. Adoption fee is 80 (65+15 deposit). This cost covers only a fraction of the amount that we spend on an average litter. Our hamsters are fed the best possible diets with fresh foods and all have large spacious enclosures.
Steps to adopt:
application + deposit
receive our care guide/receive feedback +change any aspects that may need to be changed

Three bonded sweet girls!
Two are hairless and sisters, one is half Rex and dumbo. They are very curious, sweet, playful ( the hairless ones are more friendly ) the half Rex needs a bit of time to trust you and doesn’t like to be bothered when sleeping ☺️
They love to swim and come with their Barbie pool! Hammocks galore, and domes to sleep in.
They need to be in a home where they are the only rats, they cannot be separated either, this is very important for their well-being. They came from a home where their last owner had a car accident and was unable to give them the free time they need. This is their second home and my girl is very territorial ( as most female rats are) and I want them to have a stress free environment where they are given ample free time, lots of snacks and a loving home!
If you are interested, please respond and fill out these questions :) it’s very important they find the right home so they don’t end up in a shelter or rehomed in a possible unsafe space.
1) have you owned rats before?
2) do you understand that they live short lives, therefore they will need to go to the vet more as they get older and this can be costly?
3) how much free time will they be able to get each day?
4) will they be the only animals in your home?
5) what do you plan on feeding them?Thank you so much!

Hi!
We're Canada Ant Colony, a specialty pet store for ant colonies, ant queens, and ant-keeping supplies (as well as some legally imported insect species). Our cheapest species can be purchased for as little as $15
We offer a large range of beginner, intermediate, and advanced species. We do have a couple exotic species, but they come with permits from the CFIA to prove legality. Albino female hedgehog needs a new home. We rescued this girl a while back from a bad situation, she was living in a hamster cage with no room to move around. We have set her up with a new cage, wheel, hut, etc. which is all included.
She is VERY friendly. Hardly balls up and has quite the personality. Unsure of her age because she was a rescue, we were told just under 3 years old.
Very sad to let her go, but we already have a male hedgehog and the goal was to get her the proper cage set up and find her a new loving family.
Will be cautious about who she goes to as we don’t want to see her end up in a similar situation we found her in.
Message for pictures - will try to upload some soon.

Hello there! I’m rehoming this male Guinea pig, if you’re interested I’ll give you his food, bottle of water and small tree house. You will need a cage for him. I’m asking for an adoption fee to make me sure that he will be fine and happy in his new home.

He’s a 6 month old holland lop rabbit, but due to moving to a new place we can’t keep him anymore. He’s very gentle, potty trained and well behaved. Loves lounging around all day and eating treats. He’s used to being picked up and given cuddles, is great around children and other animals (we have a cat).
He has never bitten, chewed or dug anywhere, including carpet. He comes with the whole set - hay, litter box, training fence (originally $100), and mat (originally $75). He’s honestly just a great bunny and I hope he can go to a kind, loving home.

Did you know that hamsters in pet stores originate from neglectful rodent mills that mass breed for the sole purpose of profiting? If so, consider adopting from an ethical hamstery!
Lavender Meadows hamstery is looking for adopters for our 2023 litters, so if interested, please keep reading to learn about the adoption process and how you can join our waitlist. We are the ONLY ethical hamstery in the Lower Mainland that breeds pedigreed hamsters (lineage & genetics are fully known). Many breeders exist, but not all are truly ethical. You can read about our specific practices listed in our website below.
We are dedicated to breeding to improve the species of Syrian hamsters. The current wait time is around 2-4 months depending on the number of babies available. Our breeding hamsters are pedigreed with 5-7 generations of documentation showing the family tree and the genes that they carry. The wait time ensures that there are wonderful homes lined up for each litter, that the hamsters are being bred only once or twice with breaks, and that mother hamsters getting lots of rest and care.
Our hamsters are known for the gentle disposition, health, and temperament. We've had over 200+ adopters so far over the past years! Each hamster breeding is carefully planned and thought about - in what ways will the breeding parents pass down their positive traits to their offspring? Since we know the lineage and genetics of our hamsters, we can plan accordingly.
If you're interested in adopting one from our future litters (currently spots are open for Feb and March litters), we invite you to fill out our application form. To join the waiting list, there is a $15 deposit that is required to hold your spot. Filling out the application form alone doesn't get you on the waitlist. We will send confirmation once you're on the waitlist.

Website: https://lavendermeadowshamstery2022.weebly.com/Adoption fee of $65, 15 deposit and 50 adoption fee. A vet checkup fee of $35 is factored into the adoption fee as all babies are taken to the vet before rehoming. One quality --> one price. Per litter: we spend $80 on the care of every hamster in a litter of 6.
Benefits of adopting from an ethical hamster breeder:
1. Stopping the rodent mill industry - all the hamsters in pet stores come from rodent mills that mass breed negligibly in order to meet the popular. In order to make a considerable profit, the lowest quality of care, housing, and diet is provided. One less purchase from the store, stops another hamster from being bred. There is a long way to go but we will eventually get there one day. Our hamsters are sourced from other ethical breeders who don't seek to make a profit but rather to breed to benefit the species. Ethical breeders provide proper care and husbandry and do not (and can not) make a profit with breeding.
2. Easy taming and socialization - from the very start, hamsters in the rodent industry are not handled. Breeders will breed the hamsters regardless of temperament history like if the hamster has a history of aggression. There are hundreds if not thousands of hamsters in mills, there is no time for the breeder to handle and play with every hamster every day. There is no time for handling once hamsters reach the stores - especially now due to COVID, one can't even touch/hold a hamster before buying it. Our hamsters are socialized daily from the very beginning and are bred for temperament. They are handled by kids and adults for 1-3 hours every day once they reach two weeks and up till 6 weeks. Therefore, when they go home they are very friendly and used to being held. When our adopters first meet their hamsters, most hamsters warm up very quickly and can be held, cuddled, and snuggled with the first moments when they meet. Back home, adopters have an easy time handling the hamster (sometimes males are trickier) and can bond right away which is always ideal.
3. Health of the hamsters - Health history is looked at for our hamsters because having the hamsters live a long and healthy life is very important to us. We only breed healthy hamsters with no health problems. We follow the most up to date care and provide the hamsters with enriching habitats where they can thrive. Rodent mills don't care if a hamster is blind, hairless or if they have a negative mutation. They will breed them anyways which is unfortunate because often health problems are genetic and get passed to their offspring. Due to the poor housing, bad breeding, diet, and care, they are even more prone to diseases and injuries. This is why premature deaths and hamsters dying out of nowhere is so common with pet store hamsters! With the goal of making profit, that means the care the hamsters receive is very very poor quality.
