If you're looking to find out what the guitar can really do, and uncover some of the mysteries that may be holding you back from becoming the kind of player that you can truly be, perhaps I can be of service. I am offering private, comprehensive guitar and bass lessons. in the confort of your home. Online lessons, through Zoom, are also available when a meeting in person is not possible. These courses are available to anyone, whether you are a beginner who has never played before, or a more advanced player who wants to get some theoretical concepts in order, or learn new styles of playing. I welcome anyone to join me for an interesting, and, hopefully, inspiring hour lesson on an ongoing basis, where we cover all kinds of things together and you get instruction from an experienced guitarist and teacher who has been playing for decades, and can work with you and certainly provide you with the guidance and support that you need in order to reach your objectives as a player, all in an atmosphere of discovery and fun, because, after all, that's really what attracts people to the guitar, isn't it...it's fun! That's what attracted me, and the longer that I play, the more fun I have!
If you're interested, you're welcome to contact me, and I would be happy to provide you with more detailed information concerning my approach to teaching, and how the lessons work. In closing, I should also mention that, when necessary, I will supply a back-up video of the things that we're covering in our lessons as a bit of reinforcement, and for situations where we're learning a new piece of music or working on a new theoretical concept. That way you can actually play along with me as if we were together, even though we're not. More details on rates and scheduling always available; just send me a message.

Are you interested in learning guitar but don’t know where to start? Or have you been playing for years but have hit a plateau, and could use some help to get your mind and fingers working together better?
With over 10 years of playing experience, I offer lessons that can help those that are interested in playing for the first time, or those that need help to get out of your comfort zone and learn new techniques!
Let’s face it, most people dislike theory. Nobody is excited to sit for an hour listening to a teacher talk about intervals, modes, cadences and progressions. I try to find a way to incorporate theory into the fun parts of learning, so that students can better memorize rules of theory by incorporating them into the songs you’re learning! Theory is the backbone of understanding and composing music, and to learn theory in a fun way is the ultimate goal.
With over 15 guitars, 5 amplifiers, and a full studio, students can learn on high end equipment and even be recorded to track their progress and improve upon the weak spots! As a multi musician, I can accompany students on drums or bass once they reach intermediate level, allowing for an easier transition from bedroom to band settings.
I offer lessons in acoustic, electric and bass. Remote, at your home, or at my studio!
Please message me for more info, I’ll be glad to answer any questions you may have.
Thanks for looking!

Ottawa based woodwind artist, Richard Page has become a sought-after performer and educator for all levels. His unique sound and approach to the baritone saxophone has been featured on many recordings and he is an in-demand sideman on all woodwinds in the Ottawa-area.
Richard has performed, and recorded with with many award-winning artists, including Jerry Granelli, Robben Ford, Bob Lanzetti, Hilario Duran, Bob Brookmeyer, Phil Nimmons, Roddy Ellias, Petr Cancura, and many others. Most recently, he recorded on Roddy Ellias' new recording, Not This Room, featuring Kellylee Evans, and included Marc Copland.
In addition to his own projects, Richard performs regularly with the Prime Rib Big Band, Sly High - A Tribute To Sly & The Family Stone, Renée Landry, and The Rock Steadies.
Richard's woodwinds have been featured on television on commercials, TV shows and movies, and can be heard on the Kidscreen award winning (Emmy and Canadian Screen Award nominated) Sesame Workshop/Nelvana cartoon, Esme and Roy.Here is some information about Richard's teaching concept.
"My teaching concept (which is the same concept I use in my own playing) revolves around efficiency. If I have to think about playing my instrument, I’m probably not making music, and ultimately, not having a great time. Also, when a student comes to me, I tend to break down embouchure and air issues right away. Sound is the foundation of music, and if we can get to a point where the sound is consistently open and in tune, it will make our lives’ easier doing everything else on our instruments.
I will assign studies from a method book, and I let my students pick their songs. I find that when a student plays music that they love, they dig into the lesson material, and stay interested in all elements of their instrument."
There are limited spots available for January and Richard is taking students on now! In-person lessons are available at Alcorn Music Studios. Online lessons are available.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions.

“My son has been taking piano lessons from Chiyo for over 4 years. She is very kind, patient and finds music that he enjoys to learn and play. She always goes the extra mile by sending recordings of the songs when he is first learning them so he can listen to them while practising at home and organizing piano recitals at the end of the school year. I have never once had to persuade him to continue his piano lessons and he always goes willingly. After every listen, he always tells me the same thing "She is so kind!" - Agatha (mom of Gr. 7)
"Chiyo is a great piano teacher. She is very respectful and has a very calm demeanor which has worked really well for my children. My daughter started with Chiyo nearly 4 years ago and has advanced drastically loving playing the piano daily. I would highly recommend Chiyo to any parent who is looking for piano lessons for their children." - Irma (mom of Gr.9) -
“Chiyo is a first-rate piano teacher. My boys and I have been taking lessons with her on a weekly basis for more than two years now, and I am astounded by our progress! Chiyo strikes a good balance between different musical styles and between technical exercises and actual pieces. She keeps the lessons fun by moving on once we’ve learned enough from a given piece rather than insisting on absolute perfection. Her video-recorded Christmas recitals have been a source of motivation and a great way for friends and family to see what we’ve been up to. Her friendly demeanor and skillful instruction keep us coming back week after week.” — Geoff (dad of Gr. 7 and Gr. 5)
“Three of our kids have been having lessons from Chiyo for 3 years. Our kids practice piano lightly, like half an hour or less each day (only weekdays), and Chiyo is a really patient motivator enabling us to do so. As our kids always whine, finding reasons not to practice, it is almost a miracle that our kids reached the level that they can play the piano at an elementary school talent show, after a few years. When our kids practice, they are waiting for a moment to be recognized for their effort and Chiyo carefully senses it and provides rewarding words/feelings with her nice personality. Chiyo knows how difficult it is to bring consistency for daily practices, regardless of the learner's age. That is the reason why she picks music based on the learner's personality/learning intensity besides skill. If you were to look for a difference after six months, Chiyo would be the one to go for.” – Sho
"My time with Chiyo was a gift from my family and I could not have asked for a better teacher. Chiyo was excellent at adapting to my skill level. She quickly identified my weaknesses and was amazing at finding ways to walk me through correcting them. Her ability to effectively teach students from young children to mature adults is a testament to both her piano skills and her personality. I highly recommend her." - Rob

Hi there! I'm MusicMan Dan. Thanks for checking out the site! Here's a few basic facts about me to help you to get to know me better.
WHO ARE YOU, MUSICMAN DAN? I'm a 37-year-old musician and music teacher with a passion for teaching students how to play every instrument I know how to play! I love helping students to learn; it's a real pleasure to see students gain confidence and experience on their instruments. I have had other jobs, but once I started teaching, I knew it was what I wanted to set my heart towards professionally. WHY DO YOU TEACH MUSIC, MUSICMAN DAN? Well, that's an easy question to answer! I have been taught music by some pretty sketchy teachers, and I want to make sure students don't have sub-par teaching. I love it when a student comes to me unsure they can play a piece, or master some technique, and we master it. The joy in their faces is pretty awesome to see. Plus, I have had the experience of learning the hard way how NOT to play, and it's definitely a huge part of the focus of my teaching to teach people the PROPER and ERGONOMICALLY sound ways to play. Playing sloppily can lead to repetitive strain injuries to our wrists, to frustration when you just can't get a song down right, and to feeling like you can’t play your instrument correctly. I always tell students: YES YOU CAN. And I know how to help you! SO HOW DO YOU TEACH MUSIC, THEN? WHAT IS MUSICMAN DAN'S CORE TEACHING METHOD? Well, I have developed a series of lessons that guide students towards developing their skills in the most fundamentally sound and FUN way possible. Let me say that again for emphasis: LET'S HAVE FUN LEARNING MUSIC. Learning is a bore if you're not excited and having fun! I encourage students to bring their own goals to the lessons, and while I teach songs based upon their preferences, I also have a clear goal as to HOW to get those songs learnt QUICKLY and SAFELY. Most teachers just teach songs. Often they play during lessons. I rarely play; my focus is on YOU. And while I teach songs, I also teach theory, training drills, fun exercises, and have more than a few songs under my belt to work from a repertoire of songs to fit any students preferences. Whether you are a beginner, a novice, or an advanced musician, i'm SURE to have a few tricks up my sleeve to help you improve your skills. BUT MUSICMAN DAN, WHAT MAKES YOU ANY DIFFERENT THAN OTHER TEACHERS? I focus on ergonomics. I focus on FUN. I focus on keeping things laid back. I focus on techniques to help you learn as quickly as possible. I know my way around a fretboard, drumset, or a set of keys. I am both a teacher and a musician. I've had lessons in all the instruments I teach, and I have garnered a wealth of experience through teaching and through learning. It's about
connecting
the dots. Many teachers out there don't have GOALS and CLEARLY SET lesson plans. I DO. WHAT IS YOUR EXPERIENCE AS A MUSICIAN, MUSICMAN DAN? Glad you asked! I have played in several bands in Ottawa, and have played at venues such as Zaphod's, The Live Lounge, Brass Monkey, The Cajun Attic, Ritual and Greensfield Pub, just to name a few. I've played many gigs. I've hosted many a band party. I've spent many days jamming with bands. I've also released a record with the band Gingerfox (which is available on itunes), on which I played bass. I've recorded many a song. I've been in over 10 bands. WHAT EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE TEACHING MUSIC, MUSICMAN DAN? Oh, I've taught music all over Ottawa and for several different institutions. I've had over roughly 500 students in that time. I taught for 8 years at Eric's Academy of Music in Orleans. I opened the MusicMan Dan business in 2013. I taught group classes for the Ottawa Carleton District School Board. I have taught at Opus Academy in Orleans. I have taught half hour lessons, group lessons, and hour long lessons. SO IF YOU'RE SO GREAT, WHY WORK FOR YOURSELF? WHY NOT JOIN AN ACADEMY? I have found that one on one lessons, in the hour long format, have proven to be the most effective method of teaching students how to play music. I have found that academies are either too busy, too cramped, or too restrictive to ever really get MY style of teaching enough to really have students flourish in their environments. Why make yourself a number in a tiny little room with ten other people loudly playing all around you, when you can have PRIVATE lessons in a STUDIO where you can be as loud as you want and really spread out and get comfy? I also have customized guitar specific chairs and equipment that other academies cannot offer students. In academies, students often end up in lessons that are too short, while using sub-par amps, and sitting on uncomfortable fold out chairs. Where's the fun in that? SO TO SUM UP: Why choose anyone else? I consider my lessons to be an engaging and fun process that leaves me learning every day, too! Don't settle for less.

Hi there! My name is Shane and I am a professional guitar instructor and musician. I love teaching students of all ages and styles. I have customized lesson plans catered to each individual, supplemented with hundreds of interactive tabs/sheet music. My main goal is to provide you with an encouraging and effective learning environment.
Here is a little bit about me:
With over 15 years experience playing guitar, a bachelors of music in guitar performance from Carleton University, and multiple years of experience teaching for music schools across Ottawa, I teach guitar to all ages. Whether you have no experience and want to start playing, or are an advanced musician looking to prepare for auditions, I can help you achieve your goals.
I've developed unique lesson plans that are proven effective. From theory, to jazz, pop, rock, metal and more, we'll get you playing in no time. Lessons are available in-person in the Ottawa area, or live online
If you are interested, please reach out! I am offering free 30 minute video consultations/trial lessons to first time clients.
Here is more of a detailed description of my lesson approach per skill/interest level:
Beginner:
I have lots of experience teaching child beginners as well as adult beginners. Beginners are exciting to teach because there are so many options that the future may hold. Typically, when starting, I like to introduce beginners with the basics of playing. This will include how to hold the guitar/make sounds/strum/play chords/play melodies/introduction to how to read sheet music/finger exercises. In my opinion, learning how to play guitar is a very fun experience. I enjoy showing my beginner students easier "versions" of songs that they may already enjoy as well as songs that I already know- that way you can start hearing and playing songs you know and love instead of waiting. For younger student's, I often incorporate weekly "quizzes" to encourage practicing if I see fit.
Intermediate:
Maybe you can already play chords/a few of your favourite songs start to finish but are lacking the direction that you need. I am here to introduce intermediates to new and helpful concepts. These concepts include but are not limited to: how to practice effectively/technique building/how to get perfect timing/introduction to sheet music and sight reading some pieces/Introduction to theory - how it works in practice - I have developed a program to learning the entire fretboard - not just as a scale but with scale/chord/arpeggio relations as well as the significance of each scale relating to theory/chord structure etc. - this will help in song learning as well as improvising.
Advanced:
Advanced players are often interested in complicated techniques, this may include but not be limited to: fast legato technique/sweep picking/raking/alternate picking/economy picking/string skipping/odd time signatures/improvisation in jazz styles/rock styles/funk styles/metal styles etc. I teach many advanced players how to read sheet music and it's relation to the fretboard. How to solo with a chord progression in mind. Advanced chord voicings and how you can apply them to any key/how to make your own chord voicings/chord scales/chord solos/ear training-steps on learning songs by ear. I can teach theory up to a professional advanced level. Advanced players may also be stuck in a rut and not sure where to go in terms of progression. I am here to help in many ways.
Professional Advanced:
I have experience teaching people who wish to pursue music as a living. I can help get your footing in place. I have prepared students successfully for University Auditions. I have also taught students required skills in order to become a professional musician: repertoire/sight reading/reading/advanced ear training/how to write proper charts/theory related to arranging for other instruments/ how to transpose songs on the fly etc.

Hello, my name is David Williamson – I am a professional musician offering guitar and music theory lessons to the folks of Ottawa and Gatineau. I’ve been giving guitar lessons for nearly a decade and am searching for new students who are excited to hone their musicianship with my in-person or online guitar lessons.
Here are some commonly asked questions:
How much do my lessons cost?
Lessons are $50.00 for a full hour, or $30.00 for a half-hour. These prices apply to 1 on 1 instruction given at my studio or online. If you are interested in having me drive to your residence to provide lessons, or want to inquire about group lessons, then please contact me and we’ll work out a fair agreement. *If you are interested in a trial lesson, I am happy to offer a free 20 minute orientation either in person or online.
Where are the lessons located?
I live in Aylmer in near Allumettiers and Samuel Edey.
What’s my availability like?
I am available to teach from the hours of 9:00am to 8:00pm on weekdays.
What makes me qualified to teach guitar?
In addition to having been a guitar teacher for nearly a decade, I have a bachelors degree in Music performance from Carleton University as well as many years of experience playing live performances and travelling with various groups.
What kinds of students am I looking for?
My typical age-range for students is 13 - 65, however I welcome all students who are excited to share in the gift of learning a musical instrument. No one is excluded!
What kinds of topics do I teach?
Almost any topic you can think of! In nearly 10 years of teaching, I have helped students work through a myriad of questions and dilemmas pertaining to the guitar (and music in general)! Just a few specialties are: - Techniques such as hybrid picking, legato, building speed and developing a strong sense of rhythm - Music theory topics i.e., modes, chord/scale relationships, fretboard visualization, harmony analysis - Audition preparation - Just simply learning your favorite songs and answering all kinds of questions you may have!
Which genres do I teach? – Almost everything! I’ve taught everything from country to death metal. Genres like rock, pop, jazz, franco and RnB tend to be a little more commonly requested, but almost nothing is off the table! The only style I don’t teach is Royal Conservatory classical guitar.
If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
*I am nearly bilingual and continue to improve my French speaking and writing every day, but its not perfect yet. If you are a student who needs to or would prefer to take lessons in French, I would greatly appreciate for you to give me the opportunity to improve my French so that I can offer better lessons to more people.Bonjour, je me nomme David Williamson.

Offering piano coaching for interested students of all ages.
My goal is to help guide students towards their musical goals - whether that is to obtain the basic keyboard skills needed to supplement their expertise on a different instrument, to study classical piano from the ground up, or to obtain the foundational musical skills to play their favourite tunes. One path doesn't necessarily close off other paths, and I am happy to serve you in all of the capacities that encapsulate music (theory, practical skills, ear training/listening, etc.)
My coaching adopts a slightly different approach than the conventional teacher. Rather than charge students for a weekly lesson fee and to have our time together and then to not correspond until the following lesson, I adopt an approach where I am available during the week for students to ask questions, receive clarification, send video footage of their playing to receive feedback, and more.
This helps students stay more accountable during the week to their practicing and learning.
Coaching is charged at a monthly fee that includes a weekly lesson (length will be dependent on the age range of the student), open communication with me (responses within 24hrs), and a weekly online check-in that will take place a day before the week's lesson.
More about me:
