Production Manager
Description
Our client in the Manufacturing industry in Guelph ON is looking for a Production Manager to join their team.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Production Manager will provide effective management of all production related activities. To take specific responsibility for the leadership of the Production department and control of production related activities, managing the production scheduling, driving and supporting safety initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
The position being offered is a one-year contract that has the possibility of being extended or converted to permanent employment. Additionally, the selected candidate will be eligible for enrollment in the company's group benefits program.

Responsibilities
Performance
•Promote a culture of continuous improvement, seeking opportunities through innovation in order to maximise improvement potential.
•Maximise the production process to ensure effective use of materials and equipment, manage and reduce process waste.
•Lead the production planning process to ensure uninterrupted production from raw material ordering through to dispatch. Monitor performance against the production plan in instigate corrective actions as required.
•Manage and report on capacity requirements,
•Foster open communication via the delivery of regular briefings through a variety of forums.
•Assess, set, monitor and achievement of performance KPI’s.
•Drive 5S initiatives to improve the overall standard and compliance of the plant.
•Support the maintenance team to ensure PM/TPM activities are completed to schedule investigate any deviations.
•Lead the activities related to the production of monthly performance statistics.
Health and Safety
•To take a leading role in the proactive improvement of Health and Safety in accordance with agreed targets.
•Lead and actively participate and contribute to a behavioural safety culture.
•Ensure all Operators are performing their duties as outlined by SOP controls and risk assessments.
•Ensure compliance to Health, Safety and Environmental standards and regulations.
•Actively participate in the investigation of accidents and incidents and remedial actions.
Quality
•Promote culture of a continuous improvement seeking opportunities for improvement.
•To lead all complaint resolutions on behalf of the Production Department.
•Liaise with other departments and functions ensuring all customer needs are met.
•Support all TPM activities.
•Assist in the auditing process for internal and external audits, leading corrective actions for the Production Department where required.
People
•Support the Shift Production Managers through the effective deployment of training and development of the operating teams to ensure all processes are manned with trained employees.
•Ensure all team members are fully trained and aware all procedures and policies, ensuring compliance at all times.
•Manage and motivate all teams to achieve monthly and annual production targets.
•Identify poor performance and manage via individual improvement plan.
•Absence management.
•Provide mentoring and coaching for all team members seeking improvements to allow team members to perform at the best of their ability.
•Instigate and issue disciplinary controls where required.
Accountabilities
•Process Efficiency targets as governed by KPI’s and monitored through month end statistics.
•Safety, Health and Environmental improvements in line with KPI’s and a behavioural safety culture.
•Housekeeping and Auditing targets.
•Quality Standards as governed by KPI’s and implementation of improvement plans.
•Meeting and surpassing internal and external audit targets.
•Training requirements.
•Absence control.
Qualifications
•Capable of providing guidance and supervision of all divisional staff.
•10 years of manufacturing plant management experience.
•Excellent leadership, communication and team building skills.
•Strong computer software capabilities (MS Office, QMS, MRP, etc.).
•Critical thinking, accuracy and attention to detail.
•Experience with lean manufacturing principles and inventory management disciplines.
•Knowledgeable in the use of root cause analysis, problem solving, and corrective action tools and methods.
