The Perfect Pony
Description
The Perfect Pony
Meet “Koda” a 9 year old varnish roan Appaloosa mare; measured in at approximately 9.3 HH (37.5”) and 330lb.
You will be hard pressed to find a more beautiful or suitable pony for children beginning their journey into the equestrian world, therapy work, driving or simply a darling addition to your farm; she is very friendly (always greets us with a whinny), loves attention, is bold and curious and has a very calm nature. For those versed in Parelli, she would be considered a Left Brained Extrovert.
Koda is in great health and has very good hooves, especially for a pony- she’s be consistently trimmed and always been in a dry lot (kept off grass), fed through a slow feeder system and has never had laminitis/founder. For those interested, we have slow motion video showing her heel first landings, at trot, and she has not shown any sensitivity to moving on hard surfaces or gravel.
She has incredible environmental exposure to animals, such as: dogs, cats, poultry, pigs, goats, alpacas, cows, and machinery, such as cars, snow plow and tractors. She’s also been walked out in all weather: pouring rain, snow storms, late nights and not much phases this little cutie.
In terms of training, Koda leads very well: walk, trot, canter in hand. She has played around a lot with liberty this winter in our 6 acre field and will often follow us around like a dog. She has done some ground driving (on a halter)-boldly moves ahead, with almost zero concerns, so she would be a fantastic candidate to train to drive or skijor with. She has also been trained to lunge on verbal commands: woah, walk, trot and canter.
She has been shown in conformation (won her class) years back and has had children on her, while led, but she is not trained under saddle or with a bit, as we do not have small children. She would likely take very well to this, given the appropriate training.
A few other neat things:
•both in her stall and paddock, she poops in one spot!
•she is trained to respond to a whistle, which has actually come in very handy on a few occasions!
•she’s never been ill or bred
•while she is very calm, a few liberty sessions she’s shown us that she can be one very fast little pony
•will walk through puddles
•happy to jump over logs
•no spook with ropes or lines being tangled under foot
•she has pulled cart with kids, with zero concern, while being led
She was last wormed in November. Her teeth are in good repair but, like any horse, should be done prior to beginning training with any bit work.
All-in-all, she’s truly “one in a million” type in both looks and personality!!
Currently she’s become the only equine on the farm and between that and my business really picking up, I’m looking to see if she may find a special home that could provide her appropriate companionship, adore her and give her lots of time and love; She loves to get out and explore!
Only approved homes will be considered and viewings will be vetted accordingly.
If you think you could provide this little darling with an excellent life, reach out :)
