They have focused on making our communities smarter by improving operations, reducing greenhouse gases, reducing water consumption, improving mobility, and increasing revenues. Now, thanks to their rapidly expanding business, we are looking for you, our next Hardware Engineer. Hardware Engineer The new Hardware Engineer will help us design, develop and manufacture our parking sensing products. Our client prides themselves on providing the best in-class hardware to our customers and will require someone who cares about the quality of their work. On a practical level, you will: * Implement low-power product designs, from component selection, schematic entry and PCB layout to manufacturing.* Collaborate with others in design reviews of product including electrical and mechanical aspects.* Develop hardware specifications and documentation, from functional and electrical requirements to test procedures and test results based on the requirements.* Manage component life cycle from researching and specifying new parts, qualifying component performance, identifying cost reduction opportunities, finding multiple sources of parts, and identifying alternates components for end-of-life parts.* Design prototyping, bring-up and debugging using your wizardry with a soldering iron and a variety of test equipment such as meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, VNAs, and protocol testers.* Debugging of hardware designs and failed unit analysis* Deep dive electrical system level issues back to root cause and identify and test solution* Mechanical design creating test fixtures.* Specification and implementation of Manufacturing test* Develop and review firmware in C and C++ as well as scripts and test automation in Python.* Effectively communicate with and oversee contract manufacturers from prototypes to mass production Working with the Company: This is a full-time, permanent position. If you're currently located in the Kitchener/Waterloo region, the position is a hybrid model of remote + in office.You’ll earn a competitive base salary, have a comprehensive benefits package, long term disability and 4 weeks of vacation to start. Specifically, we want you to have the following qualifications: * Bachelor’s Degree in Computer, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering* 3-5 years’ experience in a hardware engineer or hardware designer role* Experience in PCBA manufacturing, product assembly and DFM best practices* Exposure to the design and test of RF systems (Cellular, ISM, BLE, Wifi, LoRa or similar) You would also be a major asset to our team if you have the following qualifications: * Schematic and layout design in KiCad* Basic understanding of RF design principles* Solid knowledge of EMC / EMI fundamentals* 3D CAD experience using FreeCAD or Fusion 360* Advanced PCB- and system-level troubleshooting experience Your ApplicationWe value diversity and inclusion and encourage all qualified people to apply.
