Required Skills & Experience
Journeyman HET Truck Mechanic ticket in hand
Previous experience with 5S and lean manufacturing would be considered an asset
Ability to work in a fast paced manufacturing environment
Extensive knowledge of Highway Truck and Trailer repair and preventative maintenance (Cummins X15 experience would be preferred, but not specifically required)
Valid Class 1 license preferred, but not required
Demonstrate mechanical skills and aptitude, including safe operation of hand & power Tools.
Willingness to learn, repair and maintenance on forklifts, tractors, scissor lifts, and electric pallet jacks if not already experienced.
Be able to handle items weighing in excess of 50 pounds. This includes lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning items.
Demonstrate appropriate reading, clerical, and basic math skills, including the ability to understand written instructions, and perform routine calculations
A valid first aid certificate would be an asset
Ability to work independently or in a team environment
Ability to weld and/or operate a skid steer would be an asset.
Must provide complete set of hand tools up to 3/4" driver
Knowledge of MaxPanda Maintenance program would be an asset
Duties and Responsibilities
Participate in early morning team huddle/stretch
Train apprentices in the trade and sign off on hours for blue book
Use tools in a safe manner
Verify materials and equipment are ready for the project
Identify problems and communicate to lead mechanic
Keep detailed logs of equipment PM hours and repairs
Keep in contact with truck drivers for needed repairs or to line up preventive maintenance
Work closely with equipment operators to monitor units and schedule maintenance / PM's
Repair and perform preventative maintenance on Fleet of Highway Tractors/Trailers when due
Repair and perform preventative maintenance on fleet of forklifts, tractors, Scissor lifts and electric pallet jacks
Frequently lifting in excess of 50lbs
Work in various positions for lengthy periods of time (bend, squat, kneel, stand)
Propose potential quality or productivity enhancements i.e. continual improvements.
Perform other duties as requested by the Head/Assistant Coach
Following standard operating procedures
Complete daily 5S requirements
Complete all assigned training on time
Other duties as assigned by Head/Assistant Coach
