My name is Dearian Seepersad, I'm a Music Teacher, Performer, and Composer. For the last 5 years I've been performing all over the GTA, including: festivals; pride, multi-cultural, afro-fest, private functions, restaurants, bars, and producing my local show while producing tracks for local Toronto artists. This year, I'm building my independent music school from my home studio. (Big Project!) Too often, I hear about beginner students horror stories about learning in the classical vein or the lack of purpose in general lesson plans. My focus is to create a unique lesson plan for each student to maximize efficiency while incorporating my teaching style into the plan. I incorporate musical expression, technique, and theory into each lesson while taking we've learnt and reworking it into something original. Composition being the ultimate goal; as we learn a lot quicker thinking for ourselves. There are no limitations, I've taught and performed in many genres: Classical, Jazz, Rock,Pop,Reggae, Blues, Hip-hop, Gospel, Fusion, the list goes on... So who am I? I'm a 24 year old musician who's extremely passionate about ALL music. - Completed 3 years Mohawk College Applied Music program. - 5 years teaching experience. (Includes leading band rehearsal and performances) - Developed and promoted shows - Constantly studying the scripts of the great classical composers. - Most important: Patient and Understanding. The lessons I'm offering are: Guitar, Bass, Keyboard, Recording, and Drums. (Drums taught by another teacher) We will discuss: Structure (Form), Harmony, Melody, Counterpoint, Sightreading and Improvisation while meeting the technical demands of instrument.
Each lesson will be 30 - 45 minutes with the option to have the lesson at your location/home. My rates are fair and negotiable. We all have our lives and circumstances going on; it's okay. Lawyer/entrepreneur looking for a creative and talented instrumentalist who can produce, arrange, and mix original song material for a unique pop song licensing project (film, televison, ad licensing, etc.) . I am developing a package of original song properties around a charismatic vocal female performer who I am currently working with. We already have five songs in the can and are looking to launch some time next year with an album's worth of 14 original songs. .
Qualities sought: Professionalism and reliability above all. I am already working with a small team of producer/instrumentalists. each of whom has been assigned an original song to build around the female performer. I am aiming for a strategy that will build on the cumulative impact of the package of original music that we are working on. To round out the team, I am looking for someone who is a well rounded intrumentalist - who can play guitar, bass, keyboards, and at least has a great sense with programming or playing drums/percussions. A background in - or understanding of - harmonic theory, along with an excellent ability to arrange and mix strings, is a plus. Toward that end, you should have your own home recording studio ,with access to the latest instrumental plug-in libraries.
You will be provided with original, melodically-driven, pop song structures to work with, and will co-own the copyright of any recordings you produce that will be used to generate licensing, download, and/or streaming revenues.
You should have an artistic sensibility to appreciate that the production of generic template music is not the way to stand above the rest, particularly when you are coming from outside the music industry. To be clear, this is not a work-for-hire proposition. I'm not looking to hack it out. I understand how enormously difficult it is to make headway in this market. At the end of the day, the value is in the cumulative fruit of a working partnership that generates creative chemistry - as I take up the reins in seeking and negotiating the commercial licensing opportunities around the catalogue of original song properties that we will work together in developing around the vocal performer. You will have an equity stake in the recording you work on. As this is also very much a producer-driven project, I aim to promote the producers who have contributed to the project.

Lawyer/entrepreneur/songwriter seeks a talented female vocalist with excellent range, pitch, a sense of phrasing, and an understanding of harmony. I am working on a project alongside a small team of producer/instrumentalists to create commercial licensing opportunities - both image and music licensing - by promoting a branded female vocal performer around a series of original song properties.
