Time Type:RegularJob Description :Reporting to the Director, Wireless Engineering, the VAS Specialist is responsible for planning, implementation and performing activities related to the Value Added Services (VAS) nodes with our VAS vendor, e.g. Messaging system (SMSC/MMSC), Voicemail system, RCS, Mobile Location Center, Secure Entitlement Server, , etc., in order to offer the best possible user experience by ensuring high quality and availability of VAS network and services.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for leading technical feasibility studies related to the preparation, implementation and operations of Value Added Services by participating in the planning of wireless services from a technical standpoint.
Within the Wireless Solutions and Innovation team, act as a technical expert on VAS and related systems; you will be responsible for establishing a close working relationship with internal and external teams/vendors and act as the technical interface for the implementation and operations of VAS platforms too.
Responsible for ensuring high quality and timely VAS deliverables, e.g. high quality and availability of VAS nodes and services (performance KPIs); high quality and reliable operations and support; life cycle management, performing SW upgrades and updates; loading, testing and implementation of corrections (including security patches) and new features in the network; preventive maintenance; operational and customer issues support, etc.
Responsible for developing and maintaining the VAS network architecture, related standards, and planning for new technologies. Providing guidance on industry best practices and technical trends, as well as upcoming industry and regulatory requirements.
Responsible for participating in regular security/vulnerability scans, periodic network audits and inconsistency cleanups and respective corrective and preventive actions to maintain the health of the network as it evolves.

To support Cogeco’s ultimate goal of providing excellent service to current and potential customers, the incumbent must be constantly attentive and responsive to both external and internal customers’ needs and assist in the resolution of any issues or concerns in a timely and professional manner while ensuring that the solution meets the customer’s needs.
Work Experience:
Minimum of 7 year experience in VAS systems.
Experience with 3G/LTE/5G & IMS network operations for a mobile operator.
Experience planning and launching wireless services is an asset.
Qualifications:
University degree in Electrical/Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science, or similar, or equivalent experience.
Knowledge of operational tasks related to communications protocols, databases, IT security, etc.
Strong knowledge of Voice and TCP/IP protocols (SS7, SIGTRAN, SIP, Diameter, HTTPs, etc.).
Strong knowledge of Mobile Core, IMS, Charging architecture and 3GPP standards.
Good knowledge of BSS stack TMForum standards and provisioning flows.
Good knowledge of the Canadian wireless market.
Good teamwork & interpersonal skills.
Demonstrate leadership, be innovative and easily share knowledge.
Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills and attention to detail and quality.
Ability to work under pressure with multiple deliverables in parallel.
Autonomous and well-organized.
Fluent in English and French (both spoken and written).
