My flock of East Friesian and Merino cross sheep are for sale due to change of life circumstances. There are two rams: Bud is a 3 year old proven East Friesian ram and Hawthorne is a 4 year old proven Merino xGotland cross. Val, East Friesian/Merino cross has two lambs born in late March with her. The 4 yearling ewes each successfully birthed with no/minimal assistance a lamb in late April/early May. The yearling ewes were bred to their grandfathers (either Bud or Hawthorne) so this spring's crop of lambs are intended for harvesting in the fall. All adults were shorn in May/June and had their hooves trimmed. They were dewormed in June. Can be sold as a whole group: $3,500 (average $270/head) or in smaller groups (message me for price) Price reflects the fact that I have had cl on my farm in the past, I aggressively treated and then culled and completely changed the herd after a few years' break, but they are not tested. This has been a closed herd since the first year with the older adults. The animals I am selling show radiant health and vigour and have been dewormed in early June. All lambs had uncomplicated births and nurse their moms (no bottle babies). Message for smaller groups' pricing. Oh, and they come with their longtime herdmate: Sambucha the guardian llama who doesn't like our dogs (who are not in with the sheep but guard around their pens/pastures). TOTAL: 13 sheep and 1 llama. Sambucha is not factored into the price. He is halter trained but doesn't love it unless you are taking him for a grassy walk. I have the rams and spring lambs cross posted in other separate, ads. Will update this one, as sheep sell.

WHAT ARE APPENZELLER SPITZHAUBENS?
Appenzeller Spitzhaubens are a rare breed of chicken who originated in the Appenzell region of Switzerland. They are very cold hardy foragers. The roosters are very attentive and very protective of their hens while also being friendly with people. The hens are good layers of medium sized white eggs (180-200 eggs per year). They will occasionally go broody. They are also relatively small (hens weigh 2.6 to 3.5 pounds, roosters weigh 3.3 to 4.5 pounds) so they consume less feed and don’t take up too much space. They are our favorite chicken breed! Our Spitzhaubens are especially friendly with humans. Even broody raised Spitzhaubens jump on our shoulders and enjoy being held. None of our other breeds have done this.

Our boy Sven is looking for his forever home. He is supper sweet. He just went to the vet and got a clean bill of health. Up to date on all shots (including rabies) and dewormer. He was raised with kids, cats and other dogs.

Seven good hair sheep available. Dorper/Katahdin type. These were part of a larger group that a friend brought here to run with my home flock.
All rotationally grazed on moist valley, bottom flood, plane, pasture, which is a hard place for sheep to thrive, and indeed many of these new hair sheep didn’t.
But these seven are the ones that did fine, Showing a higher degree of parasite resistance than the others.
All relatively young, and all bred to Dorset type rams, Due to Lamb in May.
I also have some wool sheep, and some super Turkish shepherd Livestock guardian pups available.

Bolero is an absolute specimen!
His father is a big stout foundation type Friesian, and his mother is a cremello Missouri Foxtrotter mare with huge gait and movement.
He looks very Friesian, stands 15.3 with big bone and huge movement, and he’s super kind and gentle.
Walkes up to visit out on the pasture, pretty much comes when he’s called and loves a good scratch! He isn’t pushy, very respectful, and calm even though he’s been allowed to live freely with mares and foals.
I’ve been real busy so I haven’t put as much time into riding him as I would’ve liked, but I’ve been on him about 10 times, and from start to finish every aspect of starting him has been a pleasure because he’s got such a good mind. Really connected and thoughtful.
Not reactive.
He’s lived with every other species of livestock on range type pasture encountering all kinds of wildlife and even areas that flood so he’s not afraid of water.
He ponies, leads and loads easily, and I can just catch him in the field and trim his feet without tying him.
Could make arrangements to have him gelded on site before moving or keep him as a Stallion. He’s proven that he keeps his head even during breeding season and throws beautiful structure and colour to all of his babies. Even though he looks black, he’s thrown the cream gene on all his babies, so far, and sired gated babies with gaited mares.
In the winter, he’s got a burgundy overtones and in the summer he fades out with brown overtones.
Just a solid all around beautiful horse, inside and out
can be registered as a Friesian sporthorse
I think he would excel it pretty much anything.

Just selling a few of my good ewes because I sadly lost one of my guardian dogs, so I reduce the flock a bit.
Not culls. These are good solid sheep that have done well on a rotational, multi species grazing, fully forage based system.
No grain, no vaccines, no worming, And they produce good solid lambs that do well, even on moist valley, bottom, flood plane pasture.
Some have been hand milked for dairy for our home.
I don’t coddle my sheep.
If they don’t do well, I don’t keep them,
and I don’t keep their daughters either.
So these are all descendants of the ones that always performed well with minimal input and survived my ruthless selection process.
I haven’t had to assist a birth in years.
They all do it on their own out on the pasture.
They’re used to all other species of livestock, guardian, dogs, and herding dogs.
Mostly North Country Cheviot and Cheviot/Dorset available.
All bred to one a Horned Dorset, and a 3/4 Dorset, 1/4 Rambouillet rams for lambing starting in May.
Selling up to 10 ewes from this bunch.

And super good Turkish shepherd Livestock Guardian pups.

Nice little pure Highland yearling heifer for sale. Comes from a good line of good stock. All of her ancestors did exactly what Highlands are meant to do. Thrived on poor footage, stayed out on pasture into January and always had super hardy vigourous calves.
I would expect the same for her.
A long life of good productivity with minimal inputs. She’s just a bit flighty, which is totally curable with time and attention. Both of your parents were super quiet
But because the rest of my cattle are larger breeds, she’s at the bottom of the pecking order, which doesn’t help her confidence.
Also, I move my cattle away from the home farm frequently, walking them on roads, public trails, and loading them out of various locations and trucking them to various grazing leases. Because she’s a bit shy and also intimidated by the bigger cows, she doesn’t like to go into the corral for loading. But for someone who keeps their animals on the same farm year-round, she would be great!
