At Lavender Meadows Hamstery, we’ve launched CAP (Christmas adoption program) to ensure hamsters are gifted responsibly, with a focus on education and ethical adoption. Lavender meadows is an ethical hamstery dedicated to breeding to improve the Syrian hamster species through health, temperament and conformation. This is our fourth year of breeding and the first year of the Christmas Adoption Program. Located in Richmond BC but we have plenty of experience shipping across Canada (alberta, manitoba, east coast islands, toronto).
Why CAP:
- Prevents impulse adoptions: Requires full consent from all responsible parties; all adopters must have a good knowledge of hamster care before adoption;
- Educates adopters: Offers care guides, bonding tips, and ongoing support.
- Promotes ethical alternatives: Our pedigreed, well-tamed hamsters are raised with love, not from rodent mills.Process:
1. Fill out application + 20 deposit
2a) read through adoption guides/care guide and learn hamster care + gather supplies
2. Matching period begins December 18th - We will be matching adopters with a hamster while taking preferences in mind. This ensures that personality and fit to the adoption comes first for the hamster.
3. Arrange time for pickup December 20-25th (early early 25th morning)
Total cost of hamster is 100, 20 deposit and 80 for the hamster. Our hamsters come from imported lines from reputable breeders in the US and China.What’s Included:

We have two beautiful female leucistic sugar glider joeys ready to be re-homed late January.
They are the first litter from very healthy parents and have had plenty of human interaction so are comfortable being held and enjoy being played with.
They will only be sold to a responsible loving home and sold as a pair as separation or solitude can be very detrimental to their wellbeing (unless going to an existing colony)

We breed Syrian hamsters to NHC and IHANA show standards, focusing on health and good temperaments. Our breeding hamsters are from reputable breeders with known genetics, providing an ethical alternative to pet store hamsters from rodent mills. We’re the only ethical hamstery in Greater Van
Adoption Process:
1. Fill out the adoption application. A $15 non-refundable deposit is required to join the waitlist.
2. Research hamster care and gather supplies during the waiting period. Check out our online shop for supplies.
3. Once pups are ready, you’ll be able to rank preferences and then be matched. The total adoption fee is $80 ($15 deposit + $65 at adoption). An adoption contract must be signed at pickup.
