Women/Queer Guitarists wanted
Description
Hi musical friends
My name is Nikki (she/her) and I'm a 32 year old drummer. I'm newish to Halifax and much of my time here has been during Covid, so I don't know many musicians but am feeling pulled to start something up. Obviously right now is not the ideal time to be gathering with new people but I think even Zoom discussions about songs, direction etc and taking time to practise individually/share ideas would be something cool to start working on and looking forward to. I'm looking for folks around my age who are interested in starting something together.
I'm looking for something that's in the rock, raw, and/or indie genres. I have ideas around a band but am super open to new ideas, talking about it and developing a clearer vision with those interested and with who there is a connection.
We could do originals but I was thinking it would be cool to have a cover band that could even do themed stuff (tribute nights, decade nights, themed nights...).
A bit of background on me musically: I started drumming (after trying many different instruments and not taking to any of them) at around 15 years old and immediately fell in love. I've drummed on and off since then but have never taken lessons for kit. I have an electric kit in my apartment which is great for practise or quieter jamming on an amp. I'm also currently learning more formally in the Dartmouth Pipe Band parade band which I'm super excited about. I'm heavily influenced by 90s alternative and 2000s indie rock. Some of my favs are the White Stripes, Wolf Alice, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arctic Monkeys, Band of Horses, Bush, Interpol.
I'm excited to see who reaches out!! I'm happy to answer questions you might have for me and would love to hear your background, your influences, and your ideas.
No straight cis dudes. Thanks.
Nikki
