One of the most fascinating aspects of composition is the inspiration a composer draws from. The music on this afternoon’s program represents muses at work from some of history’s greatest composers. Joseph Bologne’s Two Sinfonias shine with true sparkle and wit. Dvorak’s Czech Suite represents some of his best melodic and most colourful output. Haydn’s Symphony No. 101 – The Clock – is a bona fide classic!

AGAINST THE WIND: THE ULTIMATE BOB SEGER EXPERIENCE performs at Shenkman Arts Centre in Ottawa on Feb. 25, 2023, at 8 pm.
After a string of sold-out shows on both sides of the border, like so many others, the band’s tour was postponed due to the Covid Pandemic, now they are thrilled to resume touring theatres and casinos once again in 2022. "…dancing in the aisles, the crowd singing Seger hits that have shaped their lives and standing ovations – that is The ATW Experience.” ATW’s unique and gritty “Heartland Rock” performances take the audience on a journey through Bob Seger's 5-decade-deep catalog with a setlist peppered with every hit, fans are swept away by both the band’s accurate renditions and Ty Wilson’s authentic vocals' portrayal of one of rock’s most iconic voices. The ATW concert experience is electric featuring an all-star band that blends the high-energy songs of “Seger-Rock” with the iconic ballads that became the backdrop of so many memories, for both young and old. This is a musical experience that fans won't ever forget.

This event is for experienced line dancers, with at least 1 year experience. Would you like to “Come Dance With Us?” As “Another Year Bites the Dust” we start planning for 2023 and select all the line dance events we would like to attend. “Tell the World” that you are attending Nickel City Line Dance Classic (NCLDC) – Let’s Dance Again! “Where Oh Where” is that located? Sudbury, Ontario, Canada of course! This will be our 11th year hosting this workshop (can’t call it “annual” anymore due to COVID) and Northern Ontario’s Only Line Dance Event charged with excitement! We can’t compete with the larger events, but we have fun just the same! After COVID, we need to meet and dance together again, and if you have never joined us in the past, then this will be the year to do it - you won’t be disappointed!
Our guest instructor will be Zandra McCallum from Burlington, ON, and of course our local instructors – “Pete” Vincent-Schroeder, Marthe Thibeault, Colette Proulx and Carol Larocque. Your playlist for the evening dance is decided by you, the dancers! Please ensure that you submit your requests, as the playlist will only be as good as the requests received.
Same venue as in the past – Polish Combatant Hall, with very nice hardwood flooring, and a stage so you can see the instructors’ feet!
Instruction will happen from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. with an hour taken for lunch (included in your registration cost). Supper hour break (on your own) will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Doors will re-open at 7:15 p.m. and it will be up to you to be ready to “Dance Without a Partner”!!!
Our charity of choice will be the Blue Door Soup Kitchen, which relies solely on donations, as they do not receive funding of any kind. Door prizes are given out at lunch time. 50/50 draw will take place at 4:10 p.m. Cost: Early Bird - $55, after July 1/23 - $65.
Come join us – we’ll save a place for you on the dancefloor! There are no strangers here – only friends we haven’t met yet!
For more information or flyer and registration forms, visit Dancin’ Feet in Motion – www.dancinfeetinmotion.ca – NCLDC 2023 tab. Also listed in that same tab are recommended hotels and restaurants for your dining pleasure, and directions from your hotel to the hall.
