St. Constantine was originally the king of Cornwall. After his wife, the daughter of the King of Brittany, passed away, he chose to relinquish his throne to his son and devoted himself to monastic life at St. Mochuda's monastery in Rahan, Ireland. There, he humbly performed simple tasks before pursuing the priesthood.
Once ordained, Constantine became a missionary in Scotland, working alongside St. Columba and St. Kentigern. He spread the Christian faith in Galloway and served as the Abbot of the Govan monastery.
In his later years, during a journey to Kintyre, he was attacked by pirates, leading to the loss of his right arm and eventually succumbing to his injuries.
Celebrated as Scotland's first martyr, St. Constantine is honored on his feast day, March 11th. His steadfast faith and sacrifice continue to inspire and strengthen the Christian community today.
