Posted by: Trevor Blackmore, Empowering Care
Location: [Insert City/Area, e.g., London, ON]
Are you a senior (or a family member of a senior) looking for a safe, private, and stress-free alternative to a large nursing home?
I’m Trevor Blackmore, and I started Empowering Care with one mission: to help seniors enjoy their later years in a true home environment – with dignity, comfort, and round‑the‑clock support.
We currently have 3 private bedrooms available in a clean, welcoming home.
What We Provide:
· Private Room – Your own space in a real home
· Home‑cooked meals & fresh baked goods – Nutritious, delicious, made daily
· ️ 24/7 Care & Supervision – Someone is always on the premises
· 24/7 Surveillance Cameras – Family members can securely check in on their loved one anytime, anywhere
· Trained Staff – All on‑site caregivers have CPR certification, a clean police check, and medical backgrounds
· Regular, Deep Cleaning – The home is kept fully cleaned to minimize bacteria and stress
· All Essentials Included – Internet, TV, newspapers, and basic home essentials
· In‑Room Monitors – So caregivers can hear if a senior needs assistance, day or night
Why I’m Doing This:
Most seniors don’t want to leave their home, but living alone becomes risky. Large facilities can feel cold, impersonal, and expose loved ones to infections. Empowering Care bridges that gap – a private home where you can relax, feel safe, and actually enjoy life without fear of bacteria or neglect.
How Payment Works:
We will sit down with you and your family and set a clear, fair agreement on what you pay – based on the care and comfort we provide. No hidden surprises.
Interested? Spaces Are Very Limited.
Call or text Trevor: 226-504-5867
Email: TrevBlack1@gmail.com
Don’t hesitate to reach out for more information or to schedule a visit. These 3 bedrooms will fill fast – let’s give your loved one the peaceful, caring environment they deserve.

2026 Alumni Reunion Schedule
Notice About Accommodation: Please read.
While there is accommodation available at the school during the weekend, the limited number of beds available are meant for people who have traveled to the reunion from out of town to help offset their transportation costs. Otherwise, we recommend either the Comfort Inn on King George Road or the Best Western Brantford Hotel on Holiday Drive. This year, we cannot guarantee space at either hotel due to another event also happening in Brantford that weekend, so it's a good idea to check sooner rather than later.
Hotel Contact Info
The Comfort Inn
58 King George Road, Brantford, Ontario
Phone: 519-753-3100
The Best Western Brantford Hotel
19 Holiday Drive, Brantford, Ontario
Phone: 519-753-8651
On-campus Accommodations
Pillows and Linens Reminder!
Please note that the school does not provide either pillows, bed linens or towels/cloths, so you'll need to bring your own if you are staying in lodging (residence.)
Other Things to Keep in Mind
For those staying at the school, as there is now a new (to many of us) Senior Lodging (residence) building where we will be staying, there have been some changes. Those who attended the reunion in recent years will be familiar with these changes.
Security has been changed and all doors except the front Administration door are now locked at all times. As we will be staying in the new Senior Lodging (residence) building which is attached to the main school building, this shouldn't be a problem.
There are no longer any keypads and access is only gained through the use of a pass. We are working with the school to ensure this won't cause Major difficulties
Nut-free and Alcohol-free Policy!
As with many other schools in Ontario, the WRMS is a nut-free environment, so if you plan to bring your own food, please be sure it contains no nuts.
Also, please note that consumption of alcohol is not permitted on campus at the school. As guests of the school, we are bound by this rule. If you would like to have a drink or two during the weekend, there are bars and restaurants relatively close by.
Now for the fun stuff! Your 2026 OSB/WRMS Alumni Reunion Schedule!
Note: the schedule is a work in progress, but we will do our best to notify you when there are updates as the reunion gets closer. However, it is subject to change without notice, so check this page often for the most complete information.
Friday
2:00 PM: Sign-in and Registration--Located in the hallway outside the gym
AT sign-in, you will receive a wrist-band which you should wear throughout the weekend, and there will be school staff and volunteers to assist you to find your rooms etc. The student centre will be open for you to relax while sign-in is taking place.
Also, please note that the registration table will become an information table for much of the weekend and will move, after main registration on Friday, to the hallway behind Administration. Not sure where to go or what to do next? head to the hallway behind Administration and have your questions answered!
Friday and Saturday: 50/50 Draw!
Tickets will be sold throughout the weekend for a chance to win half the money collected: one ticket for $2.00 and three tickets for $5.00. Bring your cash for a chance to win! The winner will be announced at Saturday's banquet.
4:30 PM: Kickoff BbQ--Located in the courtyard behind the administration offices
Note: this event requires registration and payment in advance and is included in the price of the full weekend.
Burgers with all the fixin's! Hang out, meet old friends and new, and enjoy what we hope will be a great day! We will have contingency plans if it rains.
7:00 PM: Official Meeting of the alumni Association--Located in the school Auditorium
We ask that everyone attending the reunion please attend this meeting. Not only will we have our usual elections, but this is a chance to catch up with what has been happening recently at the school. One of the early bird prizes will also be drawn!
Check out the positions up for election this year, the names of those who are running and how you can volunteer to run yourself here.(opens in a new window)
8:00 PM: Talent Show--Located in the School Auditorium
No judges, just fun! Play, sing, dance, tell a story! Here's your chance to showcase your talent in a fun and supportive atmosphere! You can sign up to participate when you register for the reunion. Head to the Student Centre afterward for snacks!
Saturday
8:00 AM: Breakfast--Located in the school dining room
Get fueled up for the exciting day ahead with a great morning meal provided by our friends at The Sherwood Restaurant!
10:00 AM: Workshops of general interest--Location TBA

What Your iPhone Can Do--Presented by Michael Feir
You may know Michael's name from his former gig on the AMI program called Kelly and Company in which he discussed technology and entertainment. He's currently the author of Personal Power: Getting the Most from iOS as a Totally Blind User. He also teaches some free online courses through the Canadian Council of the Blind (CCB). In this workshop, he'll explain how the iPhone has changed his life and perhaps could change yours too. Whether you've been thinking about purchasing a smart-phone or have never considered it before. or even if you've already have one but want to know more, this workshop is for you.
We will add to this list before the reunion.
12:00 PM: Lunch--Located in the school dining room
This is included in the full weekend price, but if registering for lunch only, please see the pricing schedule for event costs on the Reunion page. No tickets will be sold at the door and all fees must be paid in advance.
After the morning's activities, here's your chance to enjoy a selection of sandwiches and other fresh fare provided by The Sherwood Restaurant while socializing! (Former staff are encouraged to join in the fun!)
1:00 PM: Afternoon Activities
Marketplace and Exhibit Hall--Located in the gym
From 1:00-4:00 PM, we will have various alumni displaying products they sell and providing information about the businesses and organizations with which they are involved. There will also be a free book table to which you are welcome to contribute if you have any used books to give away! Contact Sara Feir
treasurer@wrmsalumni.org or fill out the appropriate part of your reunion registration form to register for a table. Check out the list of vendors and their products here.<(opens in a new window)/a>
School Tours
We will be offering tours of the school again this year so you can keep in touch with the ever-changing contours of the building which may once have been your second home!
Tours of Heritage House
We will have the former gate-keeper's lodge on St. paul Avenue, known as Heritage House, open for tours again this year.
Use of the Pool and Gym
Athletics have been a big part of the school's life for many years, and if you're interested to see the changes that have taken place in the pool and gym, now's your chance. Have fun and work up an apetite for the banquet later! The pool will be open from 1:30 to 3:30. The use of the Gym will be subject to the amount of floor-space needed for the marketplace.
Alumni Lounge--Located in the student centre
We plan to keep the student centre open for the afternoon as a place for people to cool their heels between activities and to chat and socialize in a calm atmosphere. Coffee, tea and perhaps other drinks will be on offer.
5:00PM: Saturday Evening Banquet--Located in the school dining room
Please note: This is a paid event and all tickets must be purchased in advance. There will be no tickets sold at the door. It is included in the price of the full reunion weekend.
Once again, The Sherwood restaurant's catering staff will serve up a grand feast indeed! We will have turkey with all the fixings! Come and celebrate the Alumni Association and listen to our keynote speaker. There'll be the 50/50 draw and an early bird prize draw!
We are honoured this year to have as our guest speaker former student Chris Chamberlain, who will reflect on his time at the school integration into a mainstream school.
8:00 PM: Saturday Evening Dance, with DJ--Located in the school dining room
This year, we'll serve up a mix of music guaranteed to get you up and moving. We'll also have snacks and such, and there'll be door prizes as well as the final early bird draw! So come on out and dance the night away!
Sunday
>
8:00 AM: Breakfast--Located in the school dining room
A selection of light breakfast fare including Breakfast Sandwiches from Tim Hortons will be on offer!
9:00 AM: Memorium Service--Located in the school auditorium
This is a tradition that hearkens back to a time when church was an integral part of daily life at the school. It is also a time to reflect and to remember those former staff and students who are no longer with us. Attendance, of course, is optional.

Looking for hunting land in North Dumfries township. My kids and I hunt turkey and deer and have currently lost our spot for to aging land owners that just don’t prefer to continue allowing hunting on their land. We live on the south end of Cambridge and it is getting hard to find places to hunt now. We are respectful of the property and owners and certainly don’t want to be of any burden to anyone especially property owners. I own a small machine shop in Cambridge and can also trade some small services here and there for the right to hunt. Please reach out if this is something you might be interested in.
Thanks for looking.

Hey all, is there anyone who can help out. I am very short here this month and I don't want to go to the food bank again cause they don't give you much.
I live in Port Perry on old simcoe and Queen street. Some canned goods but no noodles or ramen. Frozen foods, some breads, snacks and drinks are all I need. I've put myself in a somewhat bad position and it drained nearly all my funds to sustain myself. If anyone can spare anything, enough to get me through, it's all I need.
I'm a non working person. I'm asking for this help so I can at the end of the month gain some financial stability. If there is anyone in Port Perry that can help out, just give me a message. I don't look on here often, but I'll try to do that on a daily. I know kind ppl are out there. You can see that I'm verified on here so you know I'm not some scammer. I'm an honest 44 man who struggles daily.
Thanks to who can help out.
Ps: in case you are all wondering, I'm not an addict of any kind. Just in a somewhat bad position like I said.
