Duties & Responsbilities (Data centre infrastructure design, implementation, operator):
• Install and configure computer hardware and software systems.
• Monitor computer systems and networks to ensure they function efficiently.
• Troubleshoot network and system problems to provide solutions to hardware/software defect with administrative solutions.
• Follow instructions contained in equipment manual when setting up a system or conducting repairs.
• Create and set up new user accounts/profile, as well as address issues with passwords.
• Establish and maintain positive trust relationship with end users and with data specialists.
• Perform tests to verify the functionality and usability.
• perform backup on all systems to ensure recovery of important data in event of system failure.
• Present to company management reports of IT/systems support services.
• Conduct research to identify ways of improving on current system performance.
• Produce shift status reports to communicate shift operations and issues to superiors.
• Implement procedures, policies, and standards to ensure work operations are effective.
• Participate in educational programs and workshops to improve on existing job knowledge/skill.
• carrying out of assessments to identify and address inefficiency in power and cooling systems.
• implement data and system security measures in order to reduce exposure to downtime risks.
• conduct research to identify industry trends, as well as changes in software and hardware systems.
• monitor local area networks, wide area networks, and data communications systems to ensure optimum performance.
• Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed.
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade Web-server hardware and software.
• Implement network traffic and security monitoring software and optimize server performance.
• Control and monitor e-mail use, Web navigation, and installed software.
• Respond to requests for help and information from Web site visitors and Web site designers.
