Much of our cottage time was spent on the shores of Turkey Point, fishing, BBQing and enjoying the water (and of course Pottahawk) with family and friends. About the house: This solid bungalow called Casa Chorotega after the indigenous tribe of the area is fully equipped and can accommodate six people comfortably. There is an ambient backlit king size bed, with private ensuite bathroom, boasting a rare adobe style handcrafted inground soaker tub. There is also a second bath room for a bedroom with 2 single beds, and a third bedroom with a deluxe comfort, splitable king size bed. The kitchen boasts trendy authentic handcrafted encaustic tiles from Nicaragua, made in the same way as they did it over 100 years ago. The living area is adorned with “sweated” antique indigenous masks that were worn in ceremony many years ago, and some hunting artifacts from a nearby tribe. This is truly an authentic jungle lux experience. This villa is located on the grounds of our small boutique hotel, so you will get a whole resort to just yourselves! For the first time ever the hotel will be otherwise closed, but still staffed, and we'll be around so you literally can have a whole resort rental for a fraction of the typical cost. For a relaxing, fun-filled cottage experience come to the friendly village of Port Burwell on the Lake Erie shore. Follow the side walk a 5 minute walk from our cottage to the sandy, sun-drenched, child friendly village beach.
Our 3 bedroom family cottage sits on a large grassy lot with plenty of space for outdoor activities.
Spend a week not a fortune to give the kids a memorable beach holiday. The cottage is equipped with all the amenities necessary: coffee maker, microwave, fridge, stove, ice maker, toaster, dishes, pots, pans, gas barbeque, fire pit, picnic table, patio swing, 2 adult bikes, variety of movies, DVD player, books, games provided for your entertainment. The 2 upstairs bedrooms each with queen beds sleep 4 with the larger room also boasting 2 singles. While the main floor bedroom has a double bed as well. Making it easy to sleep 8 comfortably. We supply the pillows and bedspreads, you supply the sheets and towels.
Fish off the pier, drop your boat in at the marina or tour the Ojibwa submarine just behind the historic Lighthouse on Robinson street. Sample the different restaurant faire offered around the village. Or visit the chipwagon at the beach for fresh-cut fries, footlongs, burgers. And don't forget Scoops for a delicious ice cream treat. Red and White is well stocked with most anything you might have forgotten so duck in there for beach toys to fire wood. LCBO is also a 5 minute walk if you need to restock.

Queens Bay Hideaway is a rare private Kootenay Lakefront cottage as it is nestled at the end of a quiet no-thru road and does not share the property with any other residences. It is located at the sheltered Queens Bay which has the warmest water on Kootenay Lake and is only 30 minutes between Nelson and Kaslo just north of the Balfour Ferry Terminal. But don't worry about noise as you will only see the ferry when it is mid way across the lake and the cottage is well away from the roadway. The completely renovated 700 Sq ft cottage sleeps 5-6 people with two bedrooms including a Queen bed, two single beds and a futon sofa bed.
The inside of the cottage has plenty of natural wood accents and is bright with large windows looking out to the lake. The new large deck with patio table/chairs and the sheltered BBQ area is a fantastic place to enjoy the vast lake and Purcell Mountain views with a morning coffee. The fully equipped kitchen has a fridge, stove/oven, microwave and bottled water-cooler. There is a full bathroom with a large shower. Everything that you will need in the cabin is supplied including all bedding, linens and towels, TV, Blu-ray/DVD and WIFI and cell reception.
Spend your days at the beach with a swim dock and a campfire or head out and explore what the area has to offer. For day trips there are the heritage towns of Nelson and Kaslo with shops and restaurants that are unique to these towns and stunning views or take one of the worlds longest free ferry rides to the East Shore to find more one of a kind artisans and places to hike and explore. Ainsworth is a 20 minute drive and the beautiful Balfour Golf Course is an easy ten minute walk from the cottage. There is also cave exploring, fishing charters, hiking, mountain biking and zip-lining close by. An easy stroll along the trail that follows the beach from the cottage takes you to Balfour where you will find two pubs, a diner, bakery, grocery store with a liquor outlet and the ferry.
The rates shown are for the first four guests with an extra charge of $20 per guests per night after the first four. Everything you will need for a relaxing and carefree stay is provided as we have done with our other lakefront cabin in Kaslo (Kootenai Hideaway) since 2004.
