To continue my career in this field, I am currently pursuing a degree in Integrated Mathematics and Computer Science at Ontario Tech University.
With roughly two years of tutoring experience, my approach is to help all students thoroughly understand concepts, rather than just memorize formulas or techniques. I believe that this is a key to long-term success in any subject. To achieve this, I use a variety of teaching methods and resources in my lessons. I also encourage my students to ask questions and actively participate in the learning process, this helps them develop a deeper understanding of the subject and makes the learning process more enjoyable.
Knowing that there are different learning styles, I make an effort to tailor my lessons to individual needs. For example, if a student prefers visual aid, I might use more diagrams and graphs in my lessons, while someone more hands on might require a greater number of interactive activities or problem-solving exercises.

I’m Jason, a Master Cabinetmaker and owner/operator of The Little Bench Fine Woodwork in Lions Head Ontario. I have been making furniture for nearly 30 years and have been hand crafting the French Roubo Workbench for clients around the world for the last 12 years. I custom build each bench by hand to my clients material specs in the authentic tradition of mortise and tenon joinery. I use modern machinery to assist with some of the tasks like flattening and ripping etc.
Courses Offered
In my off-season of furniture making (Dec-Feb) I will be offering 2 styles of Roubo Bench Build Instruction.
The first course will offer you a chance to sit in and assist with the construction of a Roubo Workbench. Everything from material selection, milling and the production of each component through to assembly.
The second course will involve everything above and will involve making your own bench components to eventually take home to your own shop to complete the assembly of your own Roubo.
The skills learned in this course will transfer to all forms of mortise and tenon joinery cabinet and furniture making. You will learn how to select effective hand tools and maintain them. Use and sharpening of saws and chisels and reading drawings. Layout of joinery, draw-boring, finishing and proper material selection.
Space is extremely limited and the courses will be decided on based on interest and demand. If this interests you, I invite you to reach out and reply with your interest and current experience.
