This is a Ship Compass in a wooden box. The compass is 8-1/2 inches in diameter including the gimbal. Made by TOKURA KEIKI SEISAKUSKO CO. LTD., OSAKA JAPAN. No dates are visible on this unit but it is thought to be of WWII vintage. The compass if fully functional and is completely full of fluid. The wooden box is in very good condition. There appears to be some sort of dent on the bottom but then on closer examination this could be part of the manufacturing process. Note the increased thickness of the inside rim just below the apparent dent.
