First Aid / Medic / Interior Camp Attendant
Description
Reporting directly to the operations manager / site manager key role will be to ensure that all first aid equipment is ready for a first aid emergency, provide care for employees and our employees who are injured or become ill at work, assess the seriousness of an injury and decide what treatment is necessary to reduce pain, prevent infection or keep the patient safe and comfortable until medical service can be provided.

You must be a responsible, reliable, and professionally certified Occupational First Aid Attendant (Level III) that holds a valid certificate.
The following information is an overview of the Level 3 First Aid Attendant Position; is outside of your regular camp duties and is not to be considered all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned by your supervisor or manager

Rotation and Hours of Work:
We have yet to determine the best course of action for rotations. It is based on individuals that apply and obtain the position. We are willing to negotiate for the right candidate.
1 month on 1 month off
2 weeks on 2 weeks off
Your shift will consist of a 12-hour day and on call as the OFA Level 3 first responder
Due-Diligence:
As a first aid attendant you must:
• Assess and record all injuries or medical illnesses
• Assess the severity of an injury and decide what treatment is appropriate
• Provide treatment for injured worker until responsibility for treatment is accepted at a place of medical treatment, by an ambulance service, or by a person with higher or equivalent first aid certification
• You will take part in incident investigations
First aid attendant role and responsibilities:
• First Aid Attendants are authorized to promptly react, assess, and record all injuries or medical illnesses such as exposures to contaminants covered by work safe BC's OHSR.
• You must be in possession of your certificate at all times work safe BC may at any time request first aid attendants to provide their first aid certificate
• Responsibility and full authority for all first aid treatment of an injured patient or worker until responsibility for treatment is accepted at a place of medical treatment, by an ambulance service, air medivac or by a person with higher or equivalent first aid certification
• Assess the severity of an emergency and decide what treatment is appropriate
• Administer appropriate treatment and package for the ambulance
• Record signs and symptoms of injuries and exposures to contaminants
• Recommend and refer patients or workers with injuries for further medical treatment if required
• Ensure all medical equipment is inspected, certified and ready for an emergency
• Ensure that you are kept informed of the site’s emergency transportation plan
• Confirm communication equipment is fully operational
• Ensure all appropriate documentation is completed
• Follow all federal and provincial health and safety regulations
• Always wear all Personal Protective Equipment on the job site
• Remain current with treatment protocols
• Demonstrate safe and courteous driving techniques
• Ensure vehicle and ETV - Emergency Transport Vehicle is fully functional
• Ensure their site’s first aid kit / room is properly stocked with the necessary supplies (if more are required, you can order supplies through our office
• Maintain the strength and endurance required to perform your daily duties.
• Other duties as assigned by your immediate supervisor. Incidents / Accidents / Near -Misses / Hazards
• Ensure workers report every incident / accident / near -miss / or hazard identified on worksite, immediately notify the appropriate manager of such occurrence.
• If a serious injury occurs; obtain medical aid and provide transportation to medical facility if required.
• If a serious life threating incident / accident occurs, advise senior managers as soon as possible.
• All first aids must be reported to the on-shift supervisor and senior managers as soon as possible.
Requirements:
• Ability to take charge in a high stress situation and ability to keep calm under pressure
• Ability to be responsible in emotionally stressful situations
• Physically and mentally capable of safely and effectively performing the required duties
• Good teamwork skills and the ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner
• Good communication skills (verbal)
• Problem solving and decision-making skills
• Significant use of memory to memorize medical treatment procedures, use of equipment, and patients' or workers' condition to report back to physicians and nurses Employment requirements / Qualifications
• Maintain Occupational First Aid Level III (OFA3) Certification
• Maintain a Valid class 5 (or better) driver’s license
• Maintain a Clean drivers abstract
