Seeking Junior Materials Testing Technicians

SoilTech Consulting Ltd. is a rapidly growing progressive engineering company specializing in
geotechnical and materials engineering that has a young, energized, experienced, and highly
professional ownership group. Complimenting our engineering division, we operate a soils and
materials testing division.
We are looking for entrepreneurial minded people who want to work in a fast‐paced engineering
and technical environment. We want someone who is a self‐starter, who wants to learn and
grow, and who wants access to mentorship and training directly from the owners.
Opportunity
We are seeking a full‐time or summer student Junior Materials Technician or Technologist to join
our team in Prince George B.C. Working under the supervision and mentoring of our experienced
project managers you will develop and implement the skills to evaluate soil, aggregates,
concrete, and asphalt to confirm their conformance to design and project specifications. As a
technician/technologist you will be responsible for carrying out field and laboratory tests on in
accordance with CSA and ASTM procedures. You will be exposed to a variety of job sites, clients,
soil conditions, and varying project sizes.
Out of town work and overtime may be required once the candidate is fully trained.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be assigned to specific projects and will frequent project and
construction sites as well as conducting test in the laboratory. Your project work will involve:
- Collecting and documenting from job/project sites.
-Perform standardized field and laboratory tests on soils, aggregates, concrete, and
asphalt.
-Perform field testing and quality control reviews at various construction sites.
detailed field notes and test reports.
- Report field observations and test results to project managers and clients.
- Record detailed field notes on job site.
In addition to project work you will be other general duties including but not limited to:
- Maintenance and calibration of field and lab equipment.
- Participation in our safety quality management programs.
-Housekeeping.
Qualifications, Skills and Assets
Post secondary diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or other post‐secondary
education of an analytical nature (not required but considered an asset). Any post secondary with experience in science is considered an asset.
- 1+ years of soils, aggregate, concrete and/or asphalt testing experience (not required but
considered an asset)
-Construction experience in earthworks or concrete works (not required but considered
an asset).
- Professional and safety orientated mind set.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products
- Valid drivers license with a clean drivers abstract.
- Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screening.
- Able to work overtime, weekends, and out‐of‐town.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds and traverse uneven terrain.
