Dog to a good home
Description
Honey is approximately 4 years old and had a rough start to life, being bred at a puppy mill. She came to us in bad shape; she was very skinny and had lost most of her fur. She has since gained weight and found relief on a long-term allergy medication. She will require this daily for the foreseeable future. She is scheduled to be spayed in early June, which will complete her necessary medical care to restore her health.
She is a wonderful companion, but is VERY aggressive towards other dogs. She has a bite history with dogs and needs to be in an environment where she will consistently be the only dog around, even for short periods of time. She has also injured a human, during a fight with another dog. For this reason, we don’t recommend she be in a home with young children. She doesn’t show any signs of aggression to humans by themselves, however.
We don’t have the time and resources to care for a dog with Honey’s needs, as we both travel regularly for work and would need to rely on outside help to ensure she receives the care she deserves. This isn’t an option given her aggression when confronted with another dog- we can’t put a career in a compromising situation! Honey would be best suited for a family where one (or all) members rarely travel away from home. She’s friendly and affectionate with us, and fiercely loyal and protective. She’ll make a great companion for someone who’s lifestyle fits her needs. Unfortunately, we are not those people.
She is house and crate trained, and knows basic commands. She loves to learn new tricks and is very food motivated! She will come with her crate, bed, blankets, toys, leashes and collars, clothes, bowls, and remaining food and medication at the time she moves to her new home.
Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We’re willing to keep her until the spay is complete or work out an arrangement with you to get her there, but are unwilling to put her in a position where she may be bred again. We additionally realize that the right home for Honey may still need to travel occasionally. If you are interested, we would be willing to come up with an arrangement for us to watch her for occasional trips her new family takes. Located in the Petawawa, ON area.
