Own an OTC Evolve / Mac Tools MDT10 / Bosch ADS 625 Scan Tool?
Description
Note: Can somebody send me a closeup pic of the the special VCI update cable (showing the 4 pin end)?
Please help confirm the four pinouts alone of the special VCI USB update cable (see pic, may need to use a tiny sewing pin or even a straightened staple on special end) with your multimeter (continuity test). This is to confirm the wiring of the cable - from pin 1 to pin 1, etc. I want to rule out pin reversal - from pin 1 to pin 4 etc. by OTC.
This does not require anything done to the actual scan tool.
There may even be printing above the connector pins (although can't be seen in the OTC pics).

Hi. I can meet you in Swift Current, Moose Jaw, Saskatoon, etc. Planning to be in Calgary in the near future (if you happen to be along Hwy 1).
This unit was also sold as a Mitchell MD-350.
Long story, but I need to simply use the special USB to VCI module update cable (unit has been updated to 4.16, but 5.6 is out now) to update the VCI. Can't do any scanning until VCI is updated. This would only take a few minutes of your time, and cable would not leave your shop. I can also test the wiring in it.
The OTC p/n of the cable is 3896-04 (or Bosch 3970-03, or Mac Tools p/n 577998) but it seems that no dealers are offering it for sale in Canada any longer. OTC has had the cable on back-order for well over a year now.
If you happen to have a spare one you can sell - please let me know. It's really a USB printer cable but OTC put a proprietary auto end that connects to the scan tool. The special end can be purchased from Mouser.
My only option is to make my own cable by modifying a USB 2.0 cable.
I am not a mechanic, this scan tool is for personal use.
Thx.
