Server Analyst - Intermediate
Description
Our large Edmonton-based government client has an immediate need for a Server Analyst for 6 months plus possible extension.
Responsible for proactively maintain and improve the server core infrastructure functionality and to work within existing procedures and guidelines to meet client business requirements.
• perform problem diagnosis, troubleshooting and resolution.
• perform hardware and OS installations, migrations and/or upgrades.
• plan for software and hardware upgrades and/or migrations.
• develop and maintain documentation.
• maintain operating systems and associated infrastructure software.
• develop system related procedures.
• provide cross training and knowledge transfer to other server team members on relevant aspects of hardware and software support.
Advantages
This position will be fully remote. The client does not pay for the cost of travel to the office, when it is required,

Qualifications
Mandatory Requirements:
M2 - Proposed resource must meet or exceed one of the following:
• University graduation in Computing Science or a related discipline and 2-yr Server Analyst experience;
OR • 2-yr diploma in Computing Science or a related discipline and 4-yr Server Analyst experience;
OR • 1-yr certificate in Computing Science or a related discipline and 5-yr Server Analyst experience;
OR • 7-yr Server Analyst experience
M3 - 4 years Min. Experience provisioning and supporting VMware ESXi 6.5 or greater in an environment of 20 or more hosts.
M4 - 4 years Min. Experience using vCenter Server using HA and DRS..
M5 - 4 years Min. Industry experience working as a server support analyst supporting Windows 2016, 2019, and 2022.
M6 - Must be able to work evenings and/or weekends and/or during block time/change windows outside of normal business hours.
M7 - 3 years Min. Proposed resource must work from within Edmonton or Calgary, due to datacenter proximity.
Standard Hours of work are 08:15 - 16:30 Alberta time (GoA does not pay for travel to attend on-site meetings)
M8 - Proposed resource has agreed to an Enhanced Security Check upon contract award, which will be coordinated by GoA. Must have the last 3 years continuous residency in either Canada or United States as minimum.
Desirables:
D1 - 2 years Min. Experience managing resource capacities in a VMware ESXi environment.
D2 - 3 years Min. Hands on experience working in a multi-team IT support environment providing services to other teams and clients.
D3 - 3 years Min. Experience with scripting tools, such as Powershell
D4 - 1years Min. Experience deploying updates using a centralized patch management tool (Shavlik, SCCM, WSUS, LCM or other).
D5 - 1 years Min. Experience with Service Now or alternative ticker management system for Change Management, Incident Management and Service Requests.
D6 - 1 years Min. Experience using VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM)
D7 - 1 years Min. Experience automating tasks within Windows and vCenter utilizing PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible or other.
D8 - 1 years Min. Experience with HP server hardware: C7000 blade enclosures, Synergy Frames, and their related compute modules
D9 - 1 years Min. Experience using HP OneView to manage C7000 blade enclosures and Synergy Frames.
D10 - Able to participate in a 24/7/365 on-call rotation
D11 - Do you have related Canadian education (e.g. certificate, diploma or degree) or your foreign credentials certified by Immigration Canada, IQAS or any accreditation acceptable to the Government of Canada or Alberta?
