Organizational Membership and Business Marketing Development Intern
The Handicapped Action Group Inc. in partnership with The Wilderness Discovery Centre is seeking a community and business development Intern who will work with the membership of both organizations in developing and implementing plans to increase community awareness of both organizations' programs and services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Furthering Community Membership, developing community awareness of our services.
• To develop virtual online newsletters.
• Assisting HAGI's Housing program by developing and implementing a tenant relations program.
• Creating engagement amongst tenants to increase health and wellness and further a sense of community within HAGI's housing buildings.
• Reaching out to the younger disabled community with the school systems and potentially create a Youth Advisory Committee to further community outreach.
• Assisting the seasonal managers of our camp program at the Wilderness Discovery Centre with established practices and procedures in the development of a reservation system, policies and procedures pertaining to senior and disabled camper requirements including transportation, support services and individual subsidies and a 30 second Marketing commercial to be aired on HAGI TV Bingo.
• Developing Presentations to senior’s centers, group homes and various suitable organizations pertaining to availability of camping spots at Wilderness Discovery Centre.
• Developing awareness of the benefits of the Wilderness Discovery Centre for one’s mental and physical health
• Promoting Wilderness Discovery Centre through provincial, national, and international publications/magazines specifically for persons with a disability and seniors.
• Developing and implementing a marketing plan, including updating social media platforms, website and print media to boost engagement and increase our following.
• Research potential funding opportunities (federally, provincially, municipally)
• Co-ordinate and provide support to HAGI's Board of Directors and standing committees.
Knowledge and Skills:
• Educational background may include a Degree or Diploma in social work, community services, health and/or business.
• Strong communication skills (oral and written)
• Strong presentation skills
• Ability to take initiative and to work independently.
• Good interpersonal skills
• Good organizational skills
Other:
• A valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle re required.
• Candidate must be a new entrant into the workforce, or are transitioning to a new career, or the unemployed or underemployed who are entering a new field.
• Candidate must have not previously participated in an NOHFC funded internship in the 2020 Mandate.
• Candidate must be 18 years of age or older and legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Once hired, the candidate must reside in the Northern Ontario Community in which they are employed.
• Candidate must provide a clear criminal records check, upon acceptance of employment.
