Allen Contracting is looking for experienced loader operators for commercial snow removal in Thunder Bay this winter.
This is a part-time/on-call position and would be a good fit for experienced operators looking to make extra money throughout the winter.
What we offer:
$35–$45/hour depending on experience
Additional $5/hour reliability bonus, paid at the end of the snow season
4-hour minimum call-out
Newer, well-maintained equipment with snow blades
Assigned loader and route where possible
Snow-management software used for routes, site information and job tracking
Primarily nights, early mornings and weekends depending on snowfall

What we’re looking for:
Previous loader/heavy equipment experience
Snow removal experience preferred
Able to work independently

• Familiarity with electrical systems and schematics related to heavy equipment maintenance.

OPERATIONS SUPERVISOR – THUNDER BAY SAWMILL
LOCATION – THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO
SCHEDULE – FOUR DAYS ON FOUR DAYS OFF*** TWO FULL-TIME POSITIONS**
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Operations Supervisor will ensure compliance of the organization’s health & safety program, environmental management system and all aspects of an efficient and productive operation. The Operations Supervisor will manage all personnel and day to day business activities.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure all Health & Safety policies and procedures are followed, and that training is in place for all employees.
• Take a proactive and progressive approach to Health & Safety management, constantly investigating new methods of eliminating and/or reducing hazards and workplace injuries.
• Responsible for the supervision of all Dallan employees working at the site, including performance management, corrective actions and scheduling and payroll functions.
• Ensure all production targets are met.
• Ensure effective cost control measures are followed to meet budgetary targets.
• Act as main liaison with the customers at the site level.
• Record all environmental spills, take all necessary actions as per customer and MOE protocols.
• Interact with union representatives for any employee and labour relations issues.
• Complete all pertinent reports and audits.
• Complete other duties as required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Previous supervisory experience in an industrial environment.
• Previous experience working with heavy equipment and/or forestry.
• Knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Employment Standards, Spill Reporting procedures (MOE)
• Must possess problem solving techniques and ability to multi-task.
• Good interpersonal skills (team building, negotiations, communication, motivation)
• Adequate computer skills
• A post-secondary degree diploma in Forestry, Operations Management, Heavy Equipment Operation/ Maintenance or similar would be considered as assets.

QUALIFICATIONS: Diploma/Degree in Culinary Management and Safe Food Handling Certificate, including Red Seal certification. Minimum of 3 years related work experience. Education and/or certification regarding medical considerations are essential in menu planning and food preparation (diabetes, choking risks, low sodium, low cholesterol, etc.). Experience working with disabled individuals is an asset. Must be able to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team.
Must have a valid drivers license and use of a vehicle.
SALARY RANGE:
$21.93 to $23.67 per hour
